Hello everyone, this week is the pirate captain challenge and although it is the first in which I am going to participate, I hope to meet the expectations. The challenge consists of sharing one of our games in which we show how we use this card on the battlefield and in turn explain our entire strategy to achieve victory and share it with the community and on a social network.
Pirate Captain
The Pirate Captain is a card released in the Alpha and Beta editions, it is of common rarity and belongs to the water splinter. Using it consumes 3 mana and presents at level 1:
- 3 hit points.
- 2 speed points.
- 1 point of ranged attack since it is range.
- Y tiene la habilidad snipe que le permite atacar a los monstros enemigos de rango, daño mágico o que no tengan ataque que no se encuentren en la primera posición.
My Splinteraccount
Currently I play in silver 3 but I have been in the game for a relatively short time and I hardly have my own power, so those 15685 of power are the product of rents. Normally I maintain a rating that ranges between 1700-1900, but at the time of concluding this battle that you are about to witness, I had about 1758. All the cards that I have available to play are at level 1 from here that everything I say in this post it is taking as a point of view my experience playing with these at that level.
The Strategy
The strategy to follow will almost always be highly conditioned by several factors, such as the splinters allowed in battle, the rules of the battle, the maximum mana available to plan your battle formation, the cards at your disposal, and many more. That is why it is necessary to keep well in mind and master all these factors in order to draw up the best possible strategy at the time of battle. One very important thing is to try to discover what our opponent could play taking into account what he played in previous games and at the same time try to prevent the opponent from discovering ours.
The battle I'm going to be talking about had a maximum available mana of 44 points, it was not allowed to play with the dragon splinter and it had 2 battle rules:
Start of Battle
Round 1
Round 2
End of the Battle
- Unprotected: Monster don’t have any armor and do not get armor from abilities or summoner buffs.
- Melee Mayhem: Melee attack monsters can attack from any position.
When it was time to draw up the strategy and analyzing in detail the strategies used by my opponent in his last battles, I noticed that he had played in pairs with the water splinter, enhancing the magic damage, therefore and knowing that I have cards that could do him a lot. damage to his possible strategy I decided to play the next lineup.
In the first place I chose Bortus as the summoner, this invoker of water decreases magic damage by 1, which would be perfect if my analysis of what the opponent was going to play was correct, followed by this the monster that would occupy the First position as in any strategy has to be someone who allows me to defend myself very well and I think that in this case the best option I had was to use Tohrilo the Frozen who together with Bortus and making use of his void ability are the perfect defense against magic damage.
In the second position I placed Serpent of Eld, this monster of 7 mana cost would be the second wall in my defense in case the opponent decided to play in another way other than magic damage, since this card has an ability very good to evade melee and range hits, also thanks to the Melee Mayhem battle rule this would provide very good damage in combat from second position.
From the third position I would begin to arm my main artillery weapons, for them I placed Sand Worm in this 3rd position, this 9 mana card, although it is slow, presents a great offensive power since it has 5 melee damage and also presents the sneak ability that allows you to attack the last enemy monster unless it is in the first position, this is very important because monsters that have an important offensive power but are very weak in the first position are usually placed in the last positions.
The fourth monster in my lineup is nothing more and nothing less than the king of this party the Pirate Captain, from this position I began to place monsters with range damage that provide very good damage from behind and the Pirate Captain is one of them , this card to my consideration for the little mana that it costs to align it contributes a lot to the battlefield since it allows practically to play it in any game, also making use of its snipe ability allows you to quickly kill some other monster of range, magic damage or without attack with little life, another thing that I really like about this is its life because those 3 life points allow me to play it as a sacrifice sometimes by placing it in front of my most important monsters offensively, as in this same example where I place it in front of the other monsters of range because in case the defenses failed this would allow me to buy a little more time for my main range attackers to strike down the enemy.
In the fifth position place one of the cards that contributes the most in attack, the Axemaster, this with its 4 points of speed, its 2 points of damage and its double strike ability that allows it to attack 2 times it becomes a very lethal monster. On the other hand, this position keeps it quite protected as it is not close to the first or last positions where it can be the victim of attacks by the sneak ability.
Finally, in the sixth position, place Water Elemental, this monster contributes both in attack and defense because it also has in addition to its range attack the heal ability that allows it to restore a portion of its life, this ability in conjunction with its 4 points of Speed allow you to protect yourself from monsters that attack the last position unless their damage exceeds the maximum life of this.
The Battle

At the moment of starting the game and seeing the summoner that the opponent chose, I was able to corroborate my assumption about what the opponent was going to play.
Looking more directly at the opponent's lineup, I could see that the only thing that could do real damage to my lineup was the Sea Monster but seeing the offensive potential of mine, this was not going to last long.
By round 2 there was no Sea Monster or one of its magic damage monsters, and some had already received considerable damage, however from my lineup only Tohrilo the Frozen had received damage and it was only 1 point.
Well, the battle did not pass from round 2 and it was a successful battle, from my lineup only torhilo received damage and it was only 2 points.
Conclusions
Well, seeing what I have seen, I can only emphasize the importance of drawing up a good strategy and anticipating what may happen but at the same time never letting yourself anticipate, that's why you have to have a very cold mind and never, never do what the opponent thinks that you are going to do. On the other hand, talking about the important role of the Pirate Captain, it is true that the battle was relatively easy and it was not possible to see everything that he can offer but that was thanks to the good strategy used.
