Hi all,

Introduction

Another post in this series. Thank you for your support in the previous posts 😊

This series intends to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things – so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
I include some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of gameplay, strategy, comparison with other cards, and a market analysis of its price. Feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into in this series, and your support is much appreciated!
In this edition I will be looking at the Gloridax Soldier.

Gameplay Analysis

Gloridax Soldier is a Rare Dragon Monster from the Untamed Reward set in Splinterlands. It is a durable frontline tank with strong defensive capabilities and an aggressive counter to non-attacking enemies.

Mana Cost: 6
Attack Type: Melee
Abilities by Level
Level 1: Flying (Increased chance to dodge non-Magic attacks)
Level 1: Shield (Reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks)
Level 5: Oppress (Deals double damage to enemies with no attack)

Level-Based Insights

Level 1: With Flying and Shield, Gloridax Soldier is a strong tank against physical damage, dodging attacks while reducing incoming Melee and Ranged damage.
Level 5: Oppress makes it a direct counter to support units with no attack, such as Scavo Hireling, Queen Mycelia, and Furious Chicken, dealing double damage to them.

Comparative Analysis

How does this card compare to other similar ones?

Vs. Djinn Chwala: Djinn Chwala has Thorns, punishing Melee attackers, while Gloridax Soldier is better at avoiding damage with Flying and Shield.
Vs. Carnage Titan: Carnage Titan is a high-damage Double Strike tank, while Gloridax Soldier is more of a defensive, strategic pick.
Vs. Void Dragon: Void Dragon is a fast Magic tank, while Gloridax Soldier is a physical damage tank that counters non-attacking enemies.

Key Takeaway
Gloridax Soldier is a defensive tank that excels at avoiding damage while punishing non-attacking support units with Oppress.

Synergies

Brighton Bloom (Dragon Summoner): Grants Flying to all allies, making Gloridax Soldier even harder to hit.
Quix the Devious: Slows enemy Ranged attackers, giving Gloridax Soldier a higher chance to dodge.
Armor Repair (e.g., Scavo Hireling, Venari Marksrat): Helps sustain Gloridax Soldier’s Shield-reinforced Armor, increasing its survivability.
Debuffers (e.g., Shadowy Presence, Doctor Blight): Weakens enemies, making them easier for Gloridax Soldier to outlast.

Ruleset Performance

Favorable Rulesets:
Earthquake: Flying negates Earthquake damage, making Gloridax Soldier a strong pick.
Weak Magic: Protects it from Magic attacks, allowing it to fully utilize Shield and Armor.
Melee Mayhem / Super Sneak: Can be placed in different positions while still attacking.

Challenging Rulesets:
Reverse Speed: Its moderate Speed makes it weaker in slow-speed battles.
Unprotected: Removes its Armor, making Shield less effective.
Noxious Fumes: With no self-healing, it struggles to survive Poison damage.

Market Analysis

Price Overview
Regular Foil: around $ 0.14
Gold Foil: around $ 3

Investment Potential
Gloridax Soldier is a strong defensive tank for Dragon teams, offering damage reduction, evasion, and a niche counter against non-attacking Monsters. Its versatility and durability make it a valuable long-term investment.

Ratings

Usefulness: 8/10 (A strong, flexible tank with both evasion and damage reduction)
Cost-Effectiveness: 7/10 (Niche but effective in the right setups)
Versatility: 8/10 (Performs well in most matches, but weak to Magic-heavy teams)

Conclusion

Gloridax Soldier is a durable and evasive frontline tank that excels at countering physical attackers and non-attacking support units. Its combination of Shield, Flying, and Oppress makes it a strong defensive choice in Dragon lineups.
