Have you been using all advantage you can get from Splinterlands? Are you using gold cards to increase your rewards? If not, read this post to know what else you can do to make most of your battles.
Torrent Fiend is a unit that a lot of players forget. Actually, I am one of them until I grind recently and asked myself why I am not using him. Torrent Fiend doesn't give you any advantage or, at least, the way I use him doesn't give me a lot of advantage on the battlefield. Gold cards give you extra rewards when you win so adding a gold fiend unit can give you extra rewards for each win earning you a lot especially on higher league.

For this post, I'll be showing the Gold foil instead because the main point of using this unit, at least for me, is for the extra rewards instead of the ability on max level. While $20 may be expensive, you get an almost permanent buff of 10% on your rewards so I would say that you would get it back over time.
For the rental, it is way more efficient. On Gold 3, I earn around 2 SPS per round. On Diamond 1, I get 6 SPS per win. The reason I brought that out is because you can rent a level 2 Gold Torrent Fiend for 4.75 DEC per day. If you convert SPS to DEC, the ratio right now is around 1:7. This means one win from Gold league already pays out for your rental for this unit making it a very useful rental.

| Use it in... |
All Units have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. The extra armor gives additional protection allowing this unit to survive longer. It just helps block more attacks for your other units to survive.  |
All units have Opportunity (targets the enemy unit with the least health). This rule set gives Torrent Fiend extra health for free. It can act as extra free protection for your team.  |
Units lose all abilities. Placing this on the front can be used as a barrier for your range and magic attacking units.  |

| Since Torrent Fiend costs 0 mana, there are no downsides on adding him on your team when you have no other uses for the space. If you maxed out your mana for that battle and still are allowed to use an extra unit, you should add Torrent Fiend or any 0 mana unit to fill up your lineup. |

Battle Strat: In this battle, the most important rule set is Equalizer. This is when you can make most of your fiends. Because of this rule, Torrent Fiend gets and increased 12 health totalling to 14 and since he's 0 mana, it's just a literal free tank for your team. My other units are focused on damage while Merdaali Guardian sits at the farthest for the heals. Lily Shieldpaw can make this possible as she gives my team Camouflage and forces enemy to attack whoever is acting as my main tank.
Battle Summary: This battle is actually favoring my enemy at the start. My Torrent Fiend died in a round even if he has high health. The reason I won is because of two things. My team has a lot of units targetting the back which allow them to eliminate the enemy healer in round 3. The other thing is Carnage Titan was my 2nd unit and his Shield worked a lot than expected. The enemy's Armored Strike is also a melee attack so it's also halved. After eliminating the enemy healer, since mine was alive, that just made the game easier.
