The Strongest Melee Unit in Splinterlands

What were your first impression about this unit? Did you know Forgotten One existed? Have you tried it even once on your battles?

Now that the Training Mode is working, I try a lot of new strategies on it. The Ghost Cards option are really good to try units before renting them out to make sure I don't waste my rating, energy and money on these strategies. This new strategy I will be showing is a result of this practice. While I don't use it normally, I still started using it once in a while especially if the rules align with when I should use this strategy. Everyone else might have forgotten this unit but I certainly remember the strength of the Forgotten One.

$6.30 for a max level epic unit is fair. It's a bit expensive but also just decent because you're getting a max level unit.

Although this would be considered cheap due to how low the price of DEC is right now, I still consider this price expensive for Forgotten One. This is because Forgotten One is only mostly used in specific rule sets due to his lacking of stats and abilities to become a reliable tank.

Use it in...

All units gain True Strike (attacks will never miss).
Forgotten One has melee attack and can miss. His Retaliate also works as a simple attack so it can also miss. Aim True rule set gives you consistency with the damage Forgotten One can do.

All Units start the battle Poisoned.
This rule set is the best reason why you pick this unit.

Only Units with Melee attack may be used in battles.
Retaliate works best when all your enemies have melee units. Retaliate only works with melee units and this increases the chance of Retaliate activating multiple times in one round.



Avoid using it in...

Units do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.
This may be both good and bad. It's a good rule set since you can use Forgotten One's high attack combined with Lorkus's Life Leech to absorb high amount of health. On the other hand, a huge amount of armor will be lost on Forgotten One making him more fragile. Piercing also loses effect which is one of his strong abilities.

Units lose all abilities.
Forgotten One may be strong on first glance but he's one of those units that heavily rely on abilities. The Retaliate and Piercing are very important in making this unit strong. Without these two, there are many other units more suited if you're looking for units to be your formidable tank.

All units have Thorns (returns 2 damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack)
Forgotten One is a melee unit and all melee units hate Thorns. This is more true when that unit can attack multiple times in one round. For every Retaliate Forgotten One does, Thorns will be on his face dealing damage as well.

Battle Strat: My strategy for this fight is to use Forgotten one and Venka the Vile, the two highest melee attack in the team, to rack health with Lorkus's Life Leech. The Affliction would also help to keep Uriel the Purifier, Hugo Strongsword and Imperial Knight from healing. Both of them also have Piercing to make the Life Leech more reliant as long as they hit their attacks. The rest of the team attacks the enemy's back making my team attack from both sides.

Battle Summary: This was a close battle. A lot of my enemy's attack missed which gave me the win. On the other hand, if my attacks hit more than usual, it also wouldn't be that close of a battle. It turned out that I outlucked my enemy this time and the battle could've won by either side depending on chance.
