There is a new king in town!
The new-and-coming legendary Splinterlands summoner card that we're briefly talking about is not here yet. We know the important things though.
- It's going to be ultra-rare. (only one thousand in total)
- It's going to be ultra-expensive. (you don't even want to know)
- It will make the entire team spew poison on the attack. (yeah, good luck going up against that)
As the title says, this will be a lengthy walkthrough - not of the new summoner - but of the alternative options we have for bringing poison to the table.
Maybe this should have been an article about how to intervene in a full-on poisonous attack... but presently I have absolutely no idea what that would look like. I guess we'll have to lose a few hundred battles first, and then slowly find out what works for us.
Instead of discussing tactics against a poisonous summoner let's get started on what monsters can give us the same poisonous attacks for a lot fewer splintershards and no vouchers at all.
Let us take a look at how the different splinters are built for Poison.

Serpentine Spy is absolutely one of the Speediest Opportunists with Poison in the game. Alas, the poison only comes into play at max levels, and it goes for around 7-800$ at the maxed level.

The Lava Spider is of Chaos Legion, and a hell of a lot cheaper, around 25$ for a maxed-out card (needed for poison) it does the job and also on the backline.

The last Fire Splinter Poisonous Monster, the Serpent of the Flame, can be had for little under a hundred dollars. It is by far the most expensive card, but you only need it at level 3, which means six cards of around 16$ will do the trick.
ALL of these three cards are demonstratively high-speed individuals, and having just one or two of them (the serpent of the flame in particular) can alter many an outcome.

It poisons at level 6 and costs just around 25$ on top of which it has Opportunity, a real backline killer.

The Naga Windmaster is "only" around 200$ but can only use poison at max level, so not interesting just yet. Those already in the Champion League most likely know all about it.

The Serpent of Eld like most of the poisonous monsters only gets poison at maxed levels, but is otherwise a formidable speed monster with Dodge and Return Fire. It comes at a total of ca. 350$ so there is that.

The Goblin Chef does poison at level 8 (not maxed level) and goes for around a 150$. The Earth Splinter has quite a lot of poison, so let's get crackin...

The Nectar Queen only gets poisonous at max level, setting you back around 125$. It is fast and does a lot of damage.
Return Damage also
helps in this respect.

The Mushroom Seer on the other hand gets poisonous already at level 5, cost "only" around 85$ for the 21 needed cards, and is a great help against Magic Damage for the team.
[/red: Afterthought] I think I might need a few more of this one...

1) not very expensive,
2) getting poisonous at mid-levels and
3) also gain life or grind down opponents max life.
These are very good monsters to obtain at a total of around 60$ for both! (5 + 55).

The Life Splinter only has one single Poisonous warrior, and that is the Silvershield Assassin, incidentally also one of my arch-enemies (as I don't have it).
It comes in at just under 85$ for Poison, and most players in lower ranks must seriously hate it as I do in the Silver and Gold league. Obviously, hate is just envy, since I love it if I have it.

Death for obvious reasons is literally filled with poisonous creatures. Let us get on it and just move through the list, starting with the Giant Scorpion coming in at around 120$.

Next is the Haunted Spider, one of my personal wish-list monsters. It does Poison already at level 4 and costs only around 20$.

The Skeleton Assassin, poisonous at level 6, runs up at around 80$, is fast as "speedy Gonzales" and takes care of the backline from behind if you give it time.

Venari Bonesmith is THE most economic investment you can make. We are talking serious bang for your buck. At three dollars or so, Poison and Life Leech from level four are just what we all need, and in a reward card, so possible to get for free even.

The Soul Strangler is a nasty heavy-hitter for small mana. Not too much life, but a show of force nonetheless.
At just under 18$ it is a comfortable investment, rounding up the Death Splinter as the prime Poison Splinter.

the Royal Dragon Archer does Poison at level 3 and at the moderate investment of 1,200$. A game for those who consider the Poisonous Summoner anyway, so not my cup of tea. Fun to kill though, when you can get away with it.

The Vigilator is another one of those monsters at around 360$ for poisonous effect, that constitutes my hate group, mostly due to the unattainability price-wise.

Each and every one of the Poisonous monsters in the Neutral Splinter is a must-have. There is no way around it.
The Horny Toad does not get poisonous until level 6, and costs around 30$. On my personal wish-list!

Uraeus is one of the most utilized poison monsters on the entire battlefield.
An absolutely fantastic helper for clearing the backline from behind. As a Reward Card, coming in at around 15$ it can also be gotten for free in Rewards.

Last - but in now way least - we have the marvelous Doctor Blight. And I say marvelous because I have him. Had I not had him, I would positively hate him with a passion. Poison is a killer... Go figure 😆
I cannot tell you to go and invest in a single monster at just over 550$ for level 3 where poison comes to play, but I will say that it will not get any cheaper in the future because there will never be any more of them. It is a very scarce card launched in an almost similar fashion as the new poisonous summoner.
Ending this rather longwinded article, if you have any comments, corrections, opinions - or just a great game to showcase for poison, please don't hesitate to comment down below.
I read all comments and love the strategy talks on specific rule-based battles.
