Battle Mage Secrets: Stampede, Lorna vs. Lorna!

Good morning fellow Splinterfans, and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, I didn't had a lot of time for a week so it feels nice to spend some more time to my web 3 activities again, I was just doing the mandatory things for my different games, like submitting my brawl battles for Splinterlands and putting my Crypto Unicorns to work but that was mostly it, the timing was remarkably well, just after I had posted my posts for last week, real life things happened and that goes first.

I already made my first Battle Mage Secret post earlier today, and then I was grinding my ranked battles when I had a nice battle with this weeks featured ruleset: Stampede, in which the Trample ability can trigger multiple times, I've seen battles on YouTube where one monster tramples trough an entire team, pretty cool! I think this is something for higher leagues and not for Silver, where I'm competing in.

Trample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units.
Prime use case for Summoner Possibilus the Wise.

Making the thumbnail for this post, I learned that Lorna Shine wields a BIG sword that isn't in the small summoner picture, dangerous lady! She is by far my favorite summoner for low mana battles, but she's not cheap so I only have her at level 3 while my deck has max summoners for Silver. This battle I used a card I recently picked up, Thunderbird, it's artwork looks very cool in the thumbnail! 😍.

The battle I want to share for this post is a 16 mana Odd Ones Out / Stampede ruleset, with only the Water, Earth and Life splinter open to be chosen. Considering the odd ones, blocking Queen Mycelia for Earth, the most probable options in my opinion are Water or Life, my nr. 1 option is Lorna and where I normally play Pelacor Conjurer as my tank to dodge and reflect magic, I now needed to improvise a bit.

First look at the battlefield:

Well my opponent and me had the same idea for the summoner, but to really benefit from the divine protection she brings, it helps to play as many cards as you can, just a tip @topkek420 🙌.
The lvl 4. Lorna is really nice!! Looking at it, I think I'm OK but I'm not 100% sure, Imperial Knight is a really nice card from lvl. 5 when it gets the healing ability, and with it's 8 HP, I think it's going to heal 3 HP every turn, but not counting my tank that's probably going to die before him, I'm doing 7 damage so that should be fine.

My Line-Up:

  • Summoner: Lorna Shine - reason: 3 mana, divine protection is really nice in low mana battles.
  • First position: Blinding Reflector - reason: nice HP / Armor for only 3 mana.
  • Second position: Chaos Agent - reason: another 2 hits at minimum and it has dodge.
  • Third position: Stitch Leech - reason: 3 mana, great sneaker!
  • Fourth position: Uraeus - reason: another nice 3 mana sneaker, better for backline because of it's armor for 1 extra hit.
  • Fifth position: Thunderbird - reason: Pretty fast low mana flying so hopefully it can dodge some hits.

The Battle:

Round 1: Not much happened, as expected with two summoners bringing divine protection...

image.png

Round 2: Since I had more sneakers, Uraeus died before it could kill anyone so that's nice.

image.png

Round 3: Five against one now, the divine protection is really going to hinder Imperial Knight now and I'm doing enough damage so he doesn't heal enough to out heal my team.

image.png

Round 4: The armor got smashed on both teams, that's all.

image.png

Round 5: Blinding Reflector missed it's attack, but that's fine, he will die but my back line is safe.

image.png

Round 6: Only 1 HP left for Imperial Knight. Funny to see some high mana battles being decided in three or four rounds, and this low mana battle needed 7 rounds.

0.85 SPS, that's the nice thing about Modern, but considering the lower winrate, the SPS earnings for Modern is only slightly higher with less daily and season chests.

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

Well that's the blogging work I needed to do for this week, I highly recommend you doing these kind of posts too if you're not doing this already, every month I can buy $40-50 in Splinterlands assets by doing this, and especially making the thumbnails, I really enjoy.
