Daria Dragonscale - Battle Challenge

DARIA DRAGONSCALE

A few weeks ago we had a Battle Challenge centered around Dragons, in which I talked about Delwyn Dragonscale, and I think it's time to feature his twin sister Daria Dragonscale. Although they don't look that similar, I must tell you that Daria is as much of a threat as her brother. She's an epic Dragon summoner, from the reward set, although she's out of print.

Lore

Daria is the only Gloridax summoner who is also a member of the elite Dragonsguard. Not only is she trained to summon the largest and fiercest Dragons, but she is herself proficient in all the arts of war. Daria is clever, quick, and beautiful. Though she carries the purest Fire Blood, she refuses to take a mate.

Stats

She gives +1 Melee and costs 4 mana, so she's similar to Tarsa, except for the +1 health. However, what makes Daria stand out is being a Dragon summoner, meaning that she can give the melee buff to any other splinter. This is really useful since it can aid monsters from other splinters who have low melee, giving them a good fighting change.

Cards Used

CardDescription
DARIA DRAGONSCALE

I decided to pair her with the Life splinter, to give a buff to some low mana monsters, similar to my strategy for the Feral Spirit challenge .
CHAOS KNIGHT

Predicting that my opponent would go for a non-magic team, I used the Chaos Knight as my main tank, thanks to her Shield ability.
STITCH LEECH

A sneak attack monster, attacking the backline and having 3 melee thanks to Daria's buff. Punching really hard for only a 3 mana cost.
TRUTHSPEAKER

A great support card. She's a must for my low mana life teams. She has Protect, giving +2 armor to every monster. This protects my team really well against melee and ranged attacks.
CELESTIAL HARPY

A melee monster with Opportunity, targeting the enemy with the least health. While she only has 1 melee, thanks to Daria it goes up to 2.
CREEPING OOZE

Thanks to its Slow ability, it gives -1 speed to every enemy, aiding my monsters to attack first and actually land their attacks, since they are quite slow.

Battle

And now, I'll tell you about the battle. However, to see the full battle, click here!

ROUND 1

The enemy went for a melee team, so the Truthspeaker will be of much help to this battle, although it's balanced out since they also have armor and I used melee as well.

As for the battle, all the buffs and debuffs take effect at first. Then the Diemonshark attacks the Chaos Knight. After that, the Harpy destroys the Stonefish's armor and the Deeplurker attacks my Truthspeaker, destroying her armor as well. Finally, the Chaos Knight attacks the enemy tank, but only deals damage to the armor and the Snitch tries to sneak attack, however, it unluckily misses.

After the first round, no one took any damage, only the armor has been damaged thus far.

ROUND 2

image.png

Once again, the Diemonshark chips away at the Knight's armor, and the Harpy and Deeplurker defeat the two unprotected monsters. Since the Truthspeaker was defeated, her +2 armor buff is gone, and my backline is no longer protected! Finally, the Stitch Leech attacks, removing the Deeplurker's armor.

ROUND 3

image.png

At last, the Chaos Knight removes the armor from the enemy tank. After that, the Harpy deals 2 damage to the Deeplurker, and it, in turn, defeats my Creeping Ooze, giving them more speed, making them harder to attack now. However, the Stitch Leech is still able to land its attack, leaving the Deeplurker with only 1 health.

ROUND 4

image.png

The Deeplurker, thanks to Kelya's +1 Speed, attacks and defeats my Harpy before she's able to attack, but then the Stitch Leech revenges her by defeating her attacker.

ROUND 5

The Diemonshark finally manages to destroy the Knight's armor, but too little too late, since unless it manages to avoid several attacks, it'll be over. Luckily, it manages to avoid the Chaos Knight's attack, but the Stitch Leech lands its own, leaving the enemy with only 4 health.

Then, during Round 6, the Diemonshark avoids both attacks, so maybe it'll survive! But nope, right after comes round 7 and both the Chaos Knight and Stitch Leech land their attacks, winning the battle.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This was a great battle, and Daria was a must for this strategy to work out, since, without her, I probably wouldn't have had the power to defeat the Deeplurker and Diemonshark in time. Giving +1 melee, especially to low-mana monsters, is incredible.

As for the other cards, the Chaos Knight was a great tank, being able to take all of the Diemonshark's attacks. And the Celestial Harpy and Stitch Leech are becoming part of my main Chaos Legion cards.

In general, Dragon summoners are really fun to play with, giving different buffs to any splinter you'd like. It's a shame that both Daria and Delwyn won't be part of the Modern League, but either way, there are a bunch more options, like Camila or Kitty.
