I am Bronze III ranked, and decided to jump into a battle today, as it has been awhile. I lost, and it was a fun battle anyway. I have found that losses can yield more lessons and more fruit than effortless wins. I'm glad to be able to play this game with no gas fees, and I decided to get back into Splinterlands.
My team was selected to be a mele group, and I decided to max out on a 9-costing mele fighter flanked by a group of fast support creatures. I fought Zlink who had an excellent strategy similar to mine with more small mele creatures who overwhelmed me. I got caught in an earthquake and got bombarded by an archer who managed to drain out my small crew.
I learned that having a large crew with more ranged attackers to lay down suppression fire for a larger gang of fighters is a good look. Congratulations to @zlink for winning, and thanks for the lesson!
