Good day to you all! We have another Battle Challenge for this week and it features a monster that has one of my favorite abilities, Thorns, from the Earth Splinter. Let's add it to our lineup then try to use its ability to our advantage and win this battle!!!
Challenge Rules
THEME: VENARI KNIFER
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: EARTH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities:Thorns, Backfire at level 6
Battle Ruleset
Standard: No modification to the standard gameplay rules and mechanics.
Lineup Strategy
Obsidian
We're planning on using a lineup that will mostly be using Magic attack. This Summoner will boost our team's Magic attack by 1.
Venari Knifer
We'll be using our featured card as our Backup Tank. We're placing it on the 1st slot so that it can still attack since it uses Melee attack. This monster's Thorns ability will be useful once it takes over the Tank role since it can return damage back to Melee attackers.
Mycelic Slipspawn
Our Tank monster is placed on the 2nd position since it has the Taunt ability that forces enemy monsters to attack it if able. It uses Magic attack so it can still deal damage on this position.
Another Magic damage dealing monster. Its Flying ability can dodge Melee and Ranged attacks from non-flying monsters.
This monster will be our Tank Healer who will keep our Tank monster alive and kicking for a few more rounds. It also uses Magic attack that will be boosted by our chosen Summoner.
We'll be using one Ranged attack monster with the Blast ability that does additional damage to monsters adjacent to its target. This skill will be useful on low Health monsters beside its target since it will also receive damage.
Last but not the least inour lineup is this monster that has the Camouflage ability, it will not be targeted as long as its not on the 1st position. It also uses Magic attack like most of our team that ignores armor and directly damages its target's Health.
Battle Highlights

Our opponent's lineup appears to be focused on Ranged attack and high armor for defense. Fortunately, our team mostly uses Magic attack that ignores armor.
Using their Magic attack, Mycelic Slipspawn and Goblin Psychic were able to eliminate two enemy monsters in Round 1.
Regal Peryton and Goblin Psychic eliminated another two enemy monsters in Round 2. Unfortunately, we also lost our Tank monster in this round.
Djinn Biljka was able to eliminate an enemy monster using its Magic attack in Round 3. This leaves us with one enemy monster that can no longer attack since its a Ranged monster sitting at the 1st position.
Regal Peryton threw the last attack that immediately ended the remaining enemy monster's life and giving our team a big win in this battle.
Conclusion
Since our opponent was using mostly Ranged attack monsters, Venari Knifer's Thorns ability did not trigger that much. Good thing our team were mostly dealing Magic damage making the additional armor our opponent's team had from the chosen Summoner useless.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Although the plan of using Venari Knifer's Thorns ability got shutdown, our other plan on using a Magic attack team worked perfectly. Ignoring the enemy monsters' armor was our big advantage in this battle.
Do you like VENARI KNIFER? Why or why not?
I only use Venari Knifer in high mana battles since it costs quite a lot of mana. It's Thorns ability is very useful when dealing with a Melee attack enemy lineup.
See you again next week for another Splinterlands Battle Challenge. Have a great weekend!!!
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
