It has been some time since I last posted. Well just want to share some thoughts with everyone pertaining to the new update.
My strategy in the past was to rent some of the cards till I hit the highest league I possibly can for the season, before letting it drop back to the normal tier I am at. Most of the time, I would be able to hit the highest of Gold 3, and then it will drop back to around Silver 1 or Silver 2. Now that there is this new system that the end of season rewards will be based on the final tier and not the highest tier, I will therefore be unable to use this tactic anymore.
Instead, I am intending to the renting of cards closer to the end of the season, to make sure that when the season ends, my tier would be high so as to earn the rewards. Nevertheless, I would foresee rental to spike closer to the end of the season. Nobody knows, we shall see at the end of the season!
I had the same strategy as you.

at the moment I am still trying to figure what to do in the new system.
the rental costs are horrible at the moment, so that doesnt help as well.
to be honest, i dont understand this change and i think its really bad :(
Hi @chrz88 , wonderful for you to reply to my post! Yes, what are bummer. Finally thought I have gotten the "Secret Manual" to this game and immediately it is gone, probably this is why they introduced the update in the first place! Haha. Anyway just an update, rental prices might have gone down a little.

STOPAh that's interesting, I didn't realize that they did that! I won't struggle to get Diamond 1 so much if I can't hold it lol. I'll focus on diamond 2 and see if I can make a last push to Diamond 1 and leave it alone until the season ends.

Anyway, yes I heard about the updates. This is the first week, so not sure how it will goes. But yea, got to be careful on this one! I used to just push to the highest tier that I can before letting it slide. Not sure if we are able to do this anymore!
