Battle Challenge - Carnage Titan

in #splinterlands2 years ago

Hello community, I share a new battle from a Splinterlands tournament where I used the Carnage Titan card in my lineup in a very balanced battle where I tried to use the best cards to overcome this battle.

Carnage Titan is an excellent Melee attack card because it has Double Strike ability, and in addition it also has Reach ability so it can attack from first position as well as second position, in normal rule sets.
It is a complete card in its attributes in that at level two it sees its attack strength increased and at level three it gains the Shield ability where it reduces the damage of Melee and Ranged attacks, being important for Blast rule sets where you can't use Magic cards.
In the last level of its evolution, it increases its attack strength again, being the only thing that changes in its attributes, the attack strength, but it is enough to make a difference given its abilities.
Being the Dragon Splinter card can be combined with Summoners with Buffer + Melee attack increasing its strength even more, as Daria Dragonscale or Archmage Arius, as can also be combined using cards with Inspire ability, but only makes sense in Unprotected ruleset because it's no use having much attack strength if it will hit the card's Armor, and has no Piercing ability to make a difference with your attack.

For this battle we had the Explosive Weaponry ruleset where cards gained the Blast ability, and with maximum Mana available we could choose the best formation for this battle without worrying about Mana capacity.
Having said this, I understood that the best option would be to use the Summoner Quix the Devious with buffer (-1 Speed and -1 Ranged attack) where speed was important in this ruleset and because it allowed me to use Dragon Splinter cards, where I took this opportunity and combined it with Fire Splinter.

With Blast rulesets it is interesting to combine Snipe or Opportunity skills to try to cause Blast to adjacent cards. However my strategy for this battle, was to try to use Grum Flameblade as a tank because of its attack power and protection against Magic attacks, the problem was its reduced speed, where it would be one of the last to attack.
To solve this problem I understood that the best strategy would be to use cards with front line attack, to try to reduce the health points of the opponent's tank and so when it was Grum's turn to attack, I could apply Bloodlust and survive the battle.
So in the second position I chose Carnage Titan, it could do a lot of damage to the opponent, and still managed to absorb some Blast damage.

In the third position Void Dragon, having Flying ability and high speed, gave the opponent a chance to miss with his Snipe or Opportunity attacks, and thus avoid Blast.
In the fourth position the powerful Chaos Dragon, its Scattershot ability could spoil my strategy by attacking any of the opponent's cards, but its attack strength and health points, gave some security for this battle, so between doubts, I chose to put it in the formation.

This strategy of attacking the front line was a bit of a production without Ranged attack cards, because the opponent could choose the same Summoner and thus would penalize my attack.
Then to follow up on the strategy I had to continue choosing Magic attack cards, being in the fifth position, Djinn Inferni with good speed and attack power, where it had the ability Giant Killer that could cause double the attack to cards with more than 10 Mana, and thus would also cause double the Blast, which was a risk but possible to happen, since this battle has the maximum Mana available.
And lastly another risky card, Ifrit Rising, was a bit bold in this battle, for attacking in interspersed rounds, however it does three times damage, and thus was a good attack card, even when I only combined it in the initial level of its evolution.

Full Battle Here

Seeing the formation of the opponent's cards, he chose some similar cards, with a similar strategy, where the focus of his attacks would also be the frontline with the exception of Lira The Dark who has Opportunity ability.
This way Lira The Dark begins the battle where she attacks my card Djinn Inferni and does not eliminate it because my Summoner has reduced the damage of Ranged attacks, allowing her to still attack even when she is at the limit of health points.
Unfortunately for me, the Chaos Dragon card attacks the last position of my formation, and consequently removes Djinn Inferni from the battle due to the Blast.
Grum manages to stay in battle until his turn to attack arrives, and when it does, he manages to eliminate the opponent's tank and apply Bloodlust, so my strategy has worked so far, that would be my initial plan of using cards with front line attack.

The battle remains even at the start of the second round, where we both lost a card in the previous round.
Again Lira The Dark starts the round, and attacks Ifrit Rising where she does not eliminate and still has the possibility to attack in this battle if Chaos Dragon does not attack the last positions of the battlefield, otherwise, using Ifrit Rising would be a useless choice.
But luck is with me, and attacks Void Dragon, where it doesn't cause damage to Ifrit Rising and thus has the possibility to attack, where it causes triple damage to Djinn Murat and consequently eliminates Lira The Dark from the battle, and Carnage Titan ends up eliminating Magi of Chaos leaving only Chaos Dragon in the opponent's formation.

And so the battle is nearing the end, where I have numerical superiority and no way to lose this battle, where Chaos Dragon of the opponent is eventually eliminated by my Chaos Dragon, having lost only Carnage Titan this round due to Blast.

An important victory in the tournament, in a very balanced battle where the luck factor was on my side, but the chosen strategy also had an effect in the sense of avoiding Ranged attack cards and concentrating the attacks on the opponent's front line.
My Summoner was important for this battle in having reduced the damage to Lira The Dark allowed Ifrit Rising to attack.
Carnage Titan is a great support for the tank with its attack strength and combines well with Grum, and the Dragon Splinter cards are very interesting because we can combine with any Splinter and use multiple strategies, as in the case of this battle, I opted for Fire Splinter while the opponent opted for Death Splinter, but we combined the same Summoner and some of the same cards.
But in the end my strategy had more effect, and allowed me to win this battle.

As cool as it is to get 99 mana for a match, scary lineups like yours make the extra mana rather intimidating because I definitely don't have enough heavyweights to properly fill out a high-cost lineup :S
