The Water Seems Great, but is a SPS:SPT Pool a Wise Investment?
Recently the hot topic has been liquidity pools and if they are worth your investment. Now, I'm going to talk about one liquidity pool specifically, but there are many and some are definitely worth it, and others may not be. What I'm interested in is the SPS to SPT pool, because as a blogger, I need to know where's the best place for my SPT. Also, as someone who may want to delegate money to curation trails, perhaps that's the better place, so let's examine first (1) how to join if you want to and (2) If you SHOULD join or not by comparing it to the money you make with delegating your SPT to something like Monster-Curator.
How to Join the Splintertalk Diesel Pool if it Proves to be Worthy
- First you need to go to Splinterlands and transfer SPS over to the Hive Engine. I'm going to transfer 100 SPS because I don't have much unstaked (although I'm working on that! YAY!)
- Next you need to go to the Liquidity pool. You can do this at https://tribaldex.com/dieselpools/ or https://www.splintertalk.io/pool/add . I started out at Splintertalk. You will see something like this:
- Once you're at this "Add Liquidity" tab as you see in the picture above, you will want to pick the pool SPS:SPT and then add the amount of money you wish to contribute to the pool. In this case as you recall, I'm using 100 SPS.
The calculations are automatically made and show what I will give in SPT for that 100 SPS.
- Click the Add Liquidity button and you've entered into the pool. Below you can see that I have been added to the pool. You can check as well by clicking on the "Pool" tab.
- Now, to see what you're making, go on over to Tribaldex https://tribaldex.com/dieselpools/ which will look like this.
- Click on the "Your Positions" tab, and you will see the amount of money you're making!
As you can see, for every 5000 SPT I'm getting 0.131 reward based upon how many are here in the pool.
Let's talk about this for a minute, guys. I'm a little guy. I don't have a lot of reward here because I'm a new player and new to these tokens. I'm not making a whole lot in this pool.
Hold up... wait a minute...
If I take that SAME SPT and I go and DELEGATE 5,000 SPT to @monster-curator , I'm going to get 5 SPT per day AT LEAST (or 1 SPT per 1000 delegation a day). If I stay in this Diesel Pool, I'm getting 0.131 per day for 5000 SPT!!! SAY WHAT?!?!?!?!
The Answer Seems Clear to Me
I don't want to jump into a pool with a bunch of folks! HA! I'd rather hang out with the Monsters. I'm going to make a LOT more SPT with Monster-Curator, as a new player, versus being in the Diesel Pool. Now maybe if I was a whale I'd want to be in the Pool because I offer more to the pool, but a new player? No way. Please consider delegating to Monster-Curator and you'll see a bigger return on investment over time than you will with the SPS:SPT pool. Now, I'm not trying to give financial advice here, I'm just trying to show you what I see. Please if you see something different, I'm DEFINITELY open to hearing (and learning) more!
I hope you've enjoyed this post and it's helped you to see where you'd like to take your investment! Thank you so much for reading this!
Oh, P.S.
I removed myself from the Diesel Pool. 😊 I just went through the process to show you how its done.

The Diesel Pools are really interesting. HIVE is a great platform for DeFi like that. Rewards still seem a bit low. Need to do some math, the reward pool for SPT should be the same size as fur curating.
And here is the mushroom monster in its full glory, no need to cut it out.
Thanks, Flauwy!
I removed my SPS from this pool also, had put in 117.73 and about 5 days later got tired of watching it shrink and withdrew 104.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. I was so confused on deisel and all this other stuff.
Yay! I'm so glad it was helpful! Thanks for reading and commenting! Have great day!
Thank you so much for typing this up. I was on the fence about delegating to Monster, but I'm sold now.
oh yay! You're so welcome!! I'm happy it helped!

I realised a while ago that it's totally NOT worth it to go into this pool, the returns for staking either token are considerably greater as you say!
I'm loving the DEC:SPS pool right now. Just waiting for my SPS to unstake. Of course I'll want to jump back out closer to voucher drop time, but perhaps I can make a few more SPS before the pre-sale starts.
As flauwy suggests, the SPS:SPT rewards could be a little better and on par at least with curation rewards.
YAY! Good luck with the DEC:SPS pool! Let me know how it goes please! :)
I am in the DEC-BUSD pool on CubFinance, primarily because there my DEC is counted double for the daily SPS airdrop. But guess what: Since BUSD is fairly stable, but DEC is highly coveted these days (also for reasons of SPS), there is considerable inpermanent loss going on. In other words, as the price of BUSD keeps going up, I end up having less of it in the pool. Two weeks ago I had 20,000 DEC in it, by now it's down to 17,000. Sure, on the other hand I may have more BUSD, but that's not counted for the airdrop.
Yep, it's a constant back and forth, isn't it? :) I just wanted to remind people to really see where they are making a wise investment with the hype about pools. Meanwhile, I will research more pools and see if one is good for me. Thank you so much for your comment and support, stortebeker! I really appreciate it and enjoyed reading your comment! :)
Well, thanks to you for giving a good reason to respond! Good look with you Splinterlands exploration, and I look forward to reading more interesting posts from you.
Thank you so much!! Good luck with your Splinterlands exploration as well! ;)
Try the DEC:SPS on tribaldex pool it's kinda a win-win right now.
Well, since I've got all my SPS staked, the “right now” seems somewhat less attractive to me right now.
I love how clear and straightforward this is Rosie! And thank you very much for going through the SPS-SPT diesel pool for us. I have always wondered if it's worth it adding the SPS-SPT pool, especially with the upcoming voucher airdrops. Now, I got my answer =) I like having the BEE rewards though from the HIVE:DEC pool, you might be interested in that!
Thanks a bunch, @rosiew! :)
YAY!! Thank you, Mozzie!! I appreciate your kind comment very much! :) I'm so glad you liked the post and found it helpful! Have a wonderful week!
Have a wonderful week too Rosie! :)
thanks for this comparison, i have stake now my spt lol
I'm in the Swap.Hive:DEC pool...Mostly to get those SPS air drop points. But overall, I'm loving the @monster-curator delegation I'm doing as well. It all adds up, and continues to provide me with some amazing passive income on the blockchain and the game :)
Yipppee!! I'm so glad! Hope the Swap.Hive:DEC pool is going well for you! Glad it helps with your airdrops! :) Thanks so much for commenting and reading my post! :)

Pools can be a dangerous place for your tokens. With price fluctuations you can end up with a lot less of a token and only a little more of the other one. If you are looking forward to getting vouchers for your SPS, staking is the only safe recourse.
interesting, i wonder what it would be like in a few weeks
Good write up, I've been really bullish on sps and hive which is actually how I learned about splinterlands, now I'm hooked on the game lol

wow nice thanks for this
Thanks I was interested in how the liquidity pools we're like and what kind of returns we're being given. Appreciate detail you gave on it.
Very interesting post, thank you!
So if I understood corrrectly, SPT/SPS pools do not give airdrop points right?
