Time to Make the Money--But What's Best?
Hi everyone! Happy Sunday to you! I'm so excited today, because I get to drive over to Council Grove, Kansas and see my special Santa Fe Oak Tree along with a potential property I'm considering for my home! I feel like I should buy my Splinterlands plot of land the same day I buy a property here in Kansas and it will all tie in marvelously for me! Hee hee!
Anyways, as I'm driving over those stunning rolling prairie hills (called the Flint Hills of Kansas for your Kansas geography lesson of the day, HA!), I'll be dreaming of many things, and one of them will be Splinterlands for sure. In fact, it's the inspiration for my post today (and I'll be sure to let you know if I'm blessed enough to own a piece of the Santa Fe trail when I actually win one of these bids... the real estate market is MAD right now, kind of like the Splinterlands land plots to be honest. If you see it and love it, you better act quickly because there's always a shortage on LAND, real or Crypto!) 😀
So Many Opportunities
So, my inspiration today was, I really need to figure out what I'm going to do with these reward cards. I've taken in SOOOO much valuable information over the course of my couple of months playing the game now, and I just need to understand it all and what's best for me! I'm going to give you my thoughts on what I should do, but please realize, they are certainly not financial advice for you. They are just observations, and I welcome any comments you have about my thoughts to help me know which direction to go for the future.
If you read my previous blog about my HUGE Gold Card Legendary win (Here is the link if you wish to read it: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@rosiew/how-to-win-big-in-splinterlands ) then you know that my first course of action was to sell the card. I still stand by that decision, because I REALLY want land more than anything, both in Splinterlands and in real life to be honest. 😊 I had to sacrifice a beautiful Golden Harklaw for my dream, and no doubt, he will now be a favorite card because of what "he" did for me to get my dreams. I mean, I've been conducting a spreadsheet of my winnings so I could see if I had recovered my initial investment, and now I most DEFINITELY do not need to worry about THAT! I've more than covered it! What a blessing.
However, what I REALLY want to talk about today is--what about the basic new cards? What should we do with them? I could keep them and watch them grow in value, or I could rent them out and see if they bring me money there, but no one wants the basic level cards, because they can just play and earn the rewards themselves, right? So the angle here would be to get as many quests done as possible and level up the same cards, right?
The Concern
What I've noticed is, you get more value for your level 1 cards if you sell them, because people don't have money to buy those more expensive cards. They also may not have the summoner power to even USE those higher level cards. Therefore, my strategy is this (and remember, it's just my thoughts, so please don't take this as advice to follow): I'm going to level up the cards a LITTLE BIT, maybe a couple levels, and stop. What do you think? Is that a good plan?
I'm such a novice player myself, I can't even use the leveled up cards at this point! HA! But, the value on them would be in renting them out or even selling them. I think I'd like to rent them and see where that goes for me. I very much enjoyed renting out my other cards, so I feel like this would be a great way for me to add some value to my account, building up my collection power, and then rent them out until I a become a stronger player and can use those high-level cards myself.
What do you think guys? Is this a good idea?
I certainly made money with Harklaw, and I want to continue this trend. I would love your insight if you think leveling the cards is a good idea or keep them as level 1 cards. I would also love your insight on whether or not to just sell as I get these cards, fast as I can or hold onto them and hope they grow in value.
I'm so looking forward to comments on this post! Thanks so much for reading this far! I truly appreciate it!

I always kept my rewards cards, so I can decide what to do with them later. In the end I sold most of them haha
It's not an easy decision but I think leveling them up just a bit is not a bad call...
Okay yay! Thanks, Sam! (May I call you that?) I think so as well. :) Hope you're having a great day!

I agree, congrats on that gold foil sale. I’m hella jealous. I’m still getting more than 50% dec and potions on my daily rewards -_-. You should use that 450 and pickup a lvl 3 or 4 summoner to start using those higher level cards. I’m lusting over anything half descent right now, but can’t bring myself to spend it yet. I wa rather hoping the rewards would bring at least ONE new summoner.
Do you think it’s worth getting a second land plot at current prices?
