So for the people like myself who aren't interweb savvy how does one contribute to these pools? Lets keep the answers to Hive engine only since its the one I have. Dont have the sushi and pancake thingys. Thanks for the help.

Much things are not announced in this post or false.
F.E. if you "feed" the DEC/HIVE-P-Pool you earn not only DECs but also Lassecash, BEE and Wine-Tokens and in addition you earn part of the fees paied from the user of the pool.
Also the 70 battles are wrong, you can play them only when your account is at 100%, but after you stop the account won't recharge to 100% in one day after you played 70 battles, so if you play only once a days you can play approximately only 40 battles / day.
