Celebrate the 1st position in Clove71 Tournament

in #splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

Heard a lot from previous posts which suggests that the ranked battle is not the right place for earning in Splinterlands, but the tournament is.

Few days ago, I had participated one tournament which was hosted by Clove71 Twitch Live Stream.

So here I'm happy to share the entire battles of mine for the people who is interested but not yet participate as a reference also for my memory. 😁 maybe after this tournament I will never have another one.

To start, we can get the all tournaments by clicking the icon at the top (in the red circle) when you entered Splinterlands main page.

The one I attended was in below yellow circle.

  • Silver League
  • All cards could be used
  • Entry fee: 1 DEC
    image.png

After clicking View/Entered button on the right side, then we can see all details about this tournament.

  • The top price is 500 DEC which is around 500x of the entry fee
  • Totally 170 players participated in this tournament

Here's how the Qualify Round looks like.

In this 1 battle qualify round, the overall strategy I used was

  • Try best to Slow down opponent to gain first attack opportunity
  • Tear down it from the backline
  • Protect the entire team with Armor
  • Due to the earth splinter is not available, repair the armor rather than tank heal.

With this strategy, I defeated the opponent without losing one monster.

Here's how the Round #2 looks like. with 2 wins, i entered to round 3.

In the 1st battle of round #2, the overall strategy I used was and it works.

  • Use self healed big tank with the cleanser to resist the poison ruleset
  • Fill all position to secure the cleanse card will be safe

In the 2nd battle of round #2, with the 48 mana cost, equalizer and Keep your distance ruleset. I was trying to put the tank which has debuff, self heal at frontline. Maximize the backline's attack.

image.png

Here's how the Round #3 looks like. Again, with 2 wins, moves to round 4.

In the 1st battle of round #3, with the 99 mana cost, Melee Mayhem ruleset. I was focusing on

  • Slow down opponent
  • Maximize the Melee attack (with double strike, piecing, Trample and bloodlust) and Magic Attack(with blast)
  • Minimize the tank damage with Shield and Void

In the 2nd battle of round #3, with the 42 mana cost, Silenced Summoners ruleset. I picked my favorite combination: Flameblad+ Titan+ Scavo Hireling. and the remaining 11 mana, i chose to focus on sneak monsters and backline heal.

Here's how Round #4 looks like - Straight away with 2 wins

In the 1st battle of round #4, with the 22 mana cost, Stampede and Heavy Hitters ruleset. both me and opponent picked Undeath splinter but with different strategy while I focus more on Sneak the backline and he focused on tearing my line from the range/magic/no attack monsters. here I specifically picked few no attack cards to attract in case opponent uses snipe. Luckily my guess was correct and the final result proved the correctness of the strategy.

In the 2nd battle of round #4, with the 44 mana cost, reverse speed and Close range ruleset. I pick Fire splinter. Again used my favorite combination: Flameblade + Scavo Hireling. the rest mana, i used them to focus on tearing down from its backline.

In Round #5, the opponents fleet. A easy win.

Here's how the Semi-final looks like. Loss 1 battle, but finally I got it through.

In the 1st battle of Semi final, with the 36 mana cost, equalizer and Heavy Hitters ruleset. I picked dragon splinter with undeath deck over life one. I was focusing on tear down his line from the front. but the things exceeded my expectation was the 2 magic monsters. I was defeated for this battle for the wrong guess.

If I will do it again, most likely I will stick with my favorite strategy - focus on tear down opponent from the backline and ensure all positions have attack ability rather than few big guys.

In the 2nd battle of Semi final, with the 44 mana cost and standard ruleset. I used my favorite combinations - the Earth splinter.
Taunt all opponents attack, protest the taunt monster with armor and backline heal. then tear down from its frontline with double strike. It worked well although I was really worry when I saw opponent used monster to remove my armor and reduce my most monsters' magic attack.

In the 3rd battle of Semi final, with the 60 mana cost, Equal opportunity and Heavy hitters ruleset. I picked dragon splinter with mostly water monsters with 2 high melee attack, 1 enhance melee attack, 1 magic blast, 1 Taunt monster and finally 1 monster to protest entire team with armor. This pick worked pretty well won this battle without losing too many monsters on my side.

Here's how the Final battle looks like. I got the point for this last battle.

In this last battle, it's a 18 mana cost with Silenced summoners and Healed out ruleset. In fact, from all those battles we can see it is really a sharp turning match while all previous battles were running with high mana. and suddenly this battle became a very mana cost battle. this caused a significant lag for me on picking the team. but luckily, there are only 2 splinters we can pick from.

I picked Fire splinter over the life one for the low mana fight usually also for this match. the strategy that I used here is focusing on tear down the opponent from its backline with first attack. as the result, it works pretty well.

image.png

With this last battle finished, it's also the end of the tournament.

After 11 battles from Qualify round to Final round, I was positioned at the #1. I was really happy with this result. So wrote this blog for memory and sharing.
