Splinterlands Art Contest // Week 182// Iza The Fanged // "A Night In The Forest"

in #splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone! How's your recent Splinterlands battles? Good? Bad? Meh? While you're not sure yet on what is your next strategy, check out my entry to Splinterlands Art Contest Week 182!

A Night In The Forest

The theme of my entry is "A Night In The Forest". And No, this is not a character from Avatar. This is Iza The Fanged, a Legendary monster from the Earth element and belongs to Chaos Legion Edition. Check out Iza The Fanged Splinterlands Lore here.

In my entry, Iza is smelling the Spider Lily Flower, a flower that symbolizes final goodbyes or death. Iza enjoys killing her preys and I imagine her smelling this flower before she goes hunting.

However, I feel that sometimes she gets lonely in the night and all that she has are bones of her victim and the Spider Lily flower.

Going back to my Art, below are the tools I used and the steps I did to create my entry.

Tools/Application used:

I used ibisPaint X on Android Phone to draw
Capcut for Video Editing
ezgif to create the gif image
And I used my fingers instead of stylus pen

Steps

A rough sketch of Iza smelling the flower. In my previous entries, I always used black color for sketching but after I watched several tutorials in Youtube, I found out that it is better to use a different color, especially Blue, in sketching. It will make the line art more easier to make instead of using Black color.

In this part, I added my line art using Felt Tip Pen(Hard) brush.

Next step is to add the hair. Iza has curly hair and has white highlights. So in this part, I tried using Hair brush over Dip Pen(Hard) brush. For both brushes, I used Force Fade and the Shape of Fade is Linear to make the hair more realistic.

In this part of the hair, I added a blue highlight of hair using Hair brush also.

The next step adds the white highlight on the hair.

After I completed the highlights, I removed the hair line art for a cleaner look.

After I finished the hair, the next step I did is to add the eyes. I first added the line art of the eye.

I then added an orange highlight and the yellowish color of the eyeball. For the eyelashes, I used Dip Pen (Hard) brush with Force Fade.

And to breathe life to her eyes, I added a yellow highlights. Though her eyes here are so lonely.

After the eyes, I applied the color of her face and body and the color of her dress. I also added on top of that the picture of a snake.

The next step is to apply orange highlights to her skin and red color on her lips. And I really struggle on adding highlights and shadows on the skin. )))):

After I completed her skin, I then added red color on the Spider Lily. I also added little fireflies in red color.

After applying the base color of the flower, I added yellow and white highlights to add a glow effect on it.

Annnnnnnndddd this is the part where I accidentally clicked Invert Layer Color on her skin and dress. But it turned out pretty interesting. :)

For the background, I painted it Black and Blue using Pen (Fade) to highlight the glow of the Spider Lily Flower.

And after some adjustment to the color balance, here is the final result.

I also created a GIF wherein the Spider Lily is glowing.

I also tried applying black and white color only and made a collage out of the results. 😃

I really enjoyed creating this Art and hopeful to submit more entries in the future. 😀
