Introduction
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my Battle Mage Weekly Challenge post featuring the Broken Arrows ruleset!
The Ruleset of this week's challenge is: Broken Arrows
This Ruleset is pretty self-explanatory - monsters with the ranged attack are unable to be used.
A good way to win this type of rulesets is to further reduce other allowed types of damage - in this case, Demoralize and Silence. Bringing monsters with Void ability is also recommended since your opponent is very likely to bring a lot of magic attackers into the battle.
The featured battle allowed a total of 51 mana to be spent, and the open elements were Fire, Water, Earth, and Dragon. The Ruleset combination was completed with Melee Mayhem and Knock Out rulesets.
My Team:
Possibilus the Wise is an exceptional summoner in battle rulesets that favor melee monsters. He brings +2 health to all of my monsters and the deadly combination of Reach and Trample.
Diemonshark is just a scary monster to face. When Enranged it can cause serious damage to the opposing team in combination with Trample.
Legionnaire Alvar is here to reduce the melee damage of the opposing team with the Demoralize ability and to soak some damage as a secondary tank.
Coastal Sentry is my biggest source of damage with the combination of Double Strike and Trample. In this battle, she was able to sit behind Diemonshark and Legionnaire Alvar while dishing out the insane amount of damage.
Kulu Mastermind event at level 1 does serious damage while making my healer able to attack as well with the new Weapons Training ability.
Merdaali Guardian is my dedicated supporting monster in this battle with Tank Heal and Armor Repair abilities. Since she is adjacent to Kulu Mastermind, she will be able to attack as well and provide even more value, for just 3 mana.
Deeplurker is here to tank some hits from opposing monsters with Sneak and to finish off targets low on health due to Opportunity ability.
Battle Strategy
Turn 1
In this turn, my Diemonshark gets Enraged, hit by Arkemis, and finally defeated. Opposing Coeurl Lurker gets brought down as well.
Turn 2
In the 2nd round, Arkemis and Goblin Psychic were defeated, while my Legioannaire Alvar still stands strong. Merdaali Guardian was able to get a trample off, which is always nice to see.
Turn 3
The Trampling continues! Coastal Sentry was able to attack 3 times in total this round and Merdaali Guardian scored another trample.
Turn 4
The inevitable end of Doctor Blight and my opponent was delivered by Kulu Mastermind.
Battle Rewards
Conclusion
In this battle, there were only Melee and Magic monsters allowed. Mana cap was quite high so I decided to bring out Possibilus for a ride. My opponent decided to go all in with Magic damage and Obisidan. Since the battle ruleset included Melee Mayhem as well, my strategy ended up being stronger and I won.
