A Former Guild Member!
Side note:
I am currently running a little giveaway to help my guild level up its Store.
One more day to go, check it out here!
Last season, I encountered @pathfinderchris, a former member of my guild.
It is always nice to recognize the people that we are facing.
In this confrontation, I got into trouble because of Forcefield, an ability that I rarely encounter to be honest. Not used to facing players being able to use this ability, I didn’t see the combo Forcefield + Taunt Combo coming at all!
Consequently, when the combination of rulesets appeared, I didn’t think twice and went heavy on Melee. On top of that, the 99 Mana Cap assuredly pushed me to cram as many high mana cost monsters as I could in my lineup.
Tarsa, the +1 Melee Buff that Backfired!
By going with Tarsa, half of my monsters crossed the threshold of 5 Melee damage, Grum Flameblade, The Forgotten One and the Goblin Mech. This was a problem because Mycelic Slipspawn attracted them with its Taunt and reduced their damage to one thanks to the Forcefield ability. This alone tremendously slowed down my team’s progress.
Forgetting about Opportunity overriding Reach!
In order to prevent a Magic spam, at least it was what I thought, I chose Tusk The Wide as my main tank. But, I forgot two things. The first thing was that Tusk would not be a priority target in this Equal Opportunity battle because of his high Health Points.
Then, to hopefully help Tusk deal with the opposite tank, I decided to bring a Reach monster that would not be attracted by Taunt. However, what I forgot here was that Opportunity would override Reach anyway. This left Tusk The Wide alone against the opposite Grund.
Quick Reminder:
In a nutshell
This was interesting to see a Combo that is most probably common in higher levels.
Surprisingly enough I still had about a 20% to 25% win rate in this confrontation.
