Splinterlands Daily Update - September 3rd, 2020

I was going to wait until the end of the season before doing another “collection power” related post, but I felt it was important to share a “good” post to somewhat offset my last one. Even though the title says "daily" I'm not planning on spamming this type of post unless a day is particularly memorable.

Day two after the collection power change was definitely an improvement over day one. I was lucky enough to have higher mana caps which made the games much more interesting. Also, though I think most of my opponents were farming accounts, based on how many games they played they might actually have been humans.

Rewards were underwhelming, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. My battles and quest rewards earned me 84 DEC and two gold potions. At this rate it will take me about a month to earn enough DEC for a single DICE pack or around 3 weeks to purchase an untamed pack.

Personally I think everyone should earn enough DEC in a season to buy at least one pack. That gives people a sense of accomplishing something even if they don't make it into the leader boards (or like myself not particularly care about them). Of course there is the question of how that would impact the big picture and I don't have enough information to comment on that.

Overall I am less grumpy about the collection power change today, though I am concerned by the lack of "main accounts" I faced. I think it would be healthier for the game to discourage secondary accounts, but again that’s my personal opinion and not necessarily the right approach for the health of the game.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'll see you on the fields of battle!

On the other hand, you can freely conclude that humans abandoned the Splinterlands as game and that only bots are here. People understanding what they get for the money given went where they get more fun.

Cheers!

I promised myself I would reserve judgement until league leaderboards are out, but especially considering last night that's certainly how it appears.
Seven (out of 12) were clearly bots by name, three were obviously farming accounts, 2 showed human likely activity levels.
