Splinterlands Up Close & Personal Battle - Mylor Crowling

in #splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

Mylor Crowling of the Earth Splinter is a Splinterlands Summoner that is perfect to use for the Up Close & Personal ruleset battle, which means only melee monsters can be used in battle. He gives the 'Thorn' ability to all monsters that does wonders for all melee monsters that are selected. This ability means that every time a monster is attacked my a melee attack monster, it does damage back to that monster. This is a great advantage in an all melee monsters only game.

Here is a battle where I chose to use Malric Inferno in a battle for Up Close & Personal ruleset in Splinterlands ranked battle.

Here are the monsters I chose for this battle in order of their position:

Pelacor Mercenary

Pelacor Mercenary is an excellent card to in the 1st position because of the monster's high health and armour protection. His flying ability is also an added advantage as melee and range attacks may occasionally miss him. Usually I use Nectar Queen but if there is more mana available, I used both of them and let Pelacor Mercenary take the first damages and save Nectar Queen which has more attack power in second position to enter into attack position after Pelacor Mercenary has been killed by the opponent. These two monsters' weakness is magic attacks.

Nectar Queen

Nectar Queen is the monster I chose in 2nd position to standby after Pelacor Mercenary has been killed and done some damage to the enemy. She has high health and also has the flying ability. Enemy melees and range tend to miss her occasionally too. At level 4 she has 4 attack and 12 health which makes her a great front card to use in battles.

Sand Worm

Sand Worm is a great monster to use due to its high attack power of 5 at level 3. I placed it in 3rd position as it is a card that needs some protection and so it can stay alive longer to do more damage to the enemy. It is always important to keep your important and vulnerable (low health) cards in 3rd and 4th position. Protected from sneaks with your 5th and 6th placed monsters.

Goblin Thief

Goblin Thief in this battle was chosen as my 4th card due its 3 sneak attack. It is always better to use at least 2 cards who do similar attacks such as sneak, opportunity and snipe. I also wanted this monster to have better protection as combined with Sand Worm, they will work great together. Additionally Goblin Thief also does not have high health to withstand heavy attacks from the rear. I rather sacrifice Parasitic Growth to opponent's sneak monsters in the 5th position as it has lower attack power. The chances of opponents having sneak monsters is very high in an Up Close & Personal ruleset battle.

Parasitic Growth

Parasitic Growth was my 5th card chosen to use up the last 4 mana I had after choosing my 6th card which was Stonesplitter Orc. I have to admit that the better choice for the 5th card should have been Screeching Vulture instead due its speed and flying ability. However my mind was more on the mana (4 mana left), rather than the best monster to use. Sometimes it is better to pay more attention to the best monster for battle rather than the mana you have left. This is a good example. Here is my Screeching Vulture stats.

Stonesplitter Orc

Stonesplitter Orc is an awesome rearguard monster due its ability to retaliate against opponent sneak monsters. Take note that this ability does not work all the time but in this battle I was fortunate enough for it to work twice. It is also a monster that has 3 attack power which means the total damage it will do to the opponent sneak monster is 2 (thorn ability given my summoner Mylor Crowling) + 3 (retaliate ability). You can see it at work in this Up Close & Personal Ruleset battle.
