Card Spotlight #21: Tenyii Striker

New Chaos Legion Cards are not necessarily strong. It's in the way we players handle them that they become strong. In Splinterlands, there's no magical card that can win you every battle. Tactics always beat stats. Not necessarily that you have the most expensive cards that you're assured of winning but the coherence of the cards you have allows your best men to shine.
The card we will be discussing today is Tenyii Striker.
A dozen generations sandwiched between the hammer of the Khans' cruelty and the anvil of the icy foothills of Kurguzd forged the Tenyii into reclusive deadly foes. Brought to the training creche from birth, taught to steal for food, beaten when caught and trained daily with the sword and spear as soon as they were strong enough for their hands to lift steel, the Tenyii clan were hard as iron and as fierce and silent as midnight on the mountain glacier.
When the Legion's heralds demanded a sacrifice of flesh and gold to open the rifts to the ways beyond, the Khan sent five hundred waadin berserkers to bring the tribe to heel. When a single horse returned bearing a sack of fifty skulls, the Khan threatened to burn the entire mountain to the ground. A dozen Tenyii Strikers were sent as tribute to spare the tribes and to satisfy the herald's call.
We would rate this card based on:
- Cost to buy/rent this card. How affordable and accessible is the card.
- Card Stats. How balanced the card is based on its role.
- Card Effect. How useful is its effect based on the role of the card.
- Strengths and Weaknesses. If the card can counter other cards and/or be countered easily by others or not.
- Positioning. Adaptability of where the card can be placed.
- Compatibility. How useful it is on its current element.

Below is the rental of the card at the time of this writing.
Rental price is currently at an all time low especially with the release of the Chaos Legion for the general public. The same can be said with Tenyii Striker. You can even rent a level 2 for 0.35 DEC per day. But if you're going to play a level 1, this card is currently free to play for the meantime.
Below is the buy cost of the card at the time of this writing.
For a little bit above half a dollar, you can get one for your every day needs. A level 2 of a rare card requires 5 cards so for $3.4, you can get a level 2 of Tenyii Striker with a higher speed. Speed is especially useful for sneak, sniper and opportunity abilities as it allows them to act first and eliminate any threats before they even inflict any damage.

Tenyii Striker's stats are on the high side for a 5 mana card. He may not be strong enough to act as a main tank but he can take a beating or two and act as a secondary tank instead. Tenyii Striker can also be used as a backline blocker for **Sneak** ability users.

Sneak is one of the best abilities for melee monsters as they allow your melee units to attack from other positions beside the first. Sneak is also a great ability because most back line monsters have low health. With 2 damage (potentially 3 with Tarsa), you can kill an opponent's back line in 1-2 hits.
Dodge provides an increase in dodge chance in which allows your opponents to miss. This also allows your Tenyii Striker to survive most damage especially if you're using him as a secondary tank or avoid sneaks as back line blocker.
Now, dodge with Backfire is a different beast. Backfire inflicts 2 damage whenever your opponent misses in which your Dodge ability helps. Dodge and Backfire are 2 bonus abilities that may not be the best but is still a good ability to have.

|| Tenyii Striker has 2 main strengths which is his ability and damage. As I mentioned, the 2 damage (potentially 3 with Tarsa), can 1-2 hits a back line monster with sneak. This is a good combo to have as they allow quick execution of opponent's damage dealers. || Tenyii Striker's weakness are his speed and mana. The 2 mana is good but not the best. This allows him to attack first than some but not most. The 5 mana sometimes doesn't allow Tenyii Striker to be played on certain rule sets. This is a huge hindrance especially if Tenyii Striker is your biggest damage dealer for fire element.

POSITIONING:
The best position for this card is either behind the main tank or as a sneak blocker. Sneak blockers are those you position at the very back to block or defend your team against other Sneak abilities. In this game, I just did that and it allows my Serpentine Spy to survive most of the game and thus provide more damage.
ROUND 1:
By end of Round 1, Maggots and Life Sapper dies leaving my opponent to 3 monsters. Some damage were exchanged to other monsters but are not close to fatality.
ROUND 2:
By end of Round 2, Death Elemental took a fatal blow from Serpentine Spy while Silent Sha-Vi took a brunt of 3 damage from Tenyii Striker. Tenyii also took 2 damage in return from Silent Sha-Vi's sneak. Cursed Windeku goes down to 3 health endangering of losing the game.
ROUND 3:
Game ended on Round 3 with the death of Cursed Windeku, Silent Sha-Vi and Tenyii Striker.

- The best combo with this card for me is with Summoner Tarsa. Tarsa provides both health and damage which Tenyii Striker both excels at. It's more like increasing the threat rather than focusing on the weakness. Tarsa is a good summoner with an all melee team which I did here with the exception of Djinn Apprentice which I added in case of any Shield opponents. I love doing this little mix as it provides better assurance against mirror matches.

Final Thoughts
With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that Tenyii Striker is one of the best fire element cards. This is further increased with the compatibility from Tarsa which is probably the best summoner made for fire element. The increased Sneak damage provides a huge advantage as it eliminates a monster from the back line in 1-2 turns while the health provides a better chance of survival against sneak opponents. Tenyii Striker provides a lot of positional advantage and flexibility on what the team needs in order to win. Tenyii Striker is a must have in any builds that uses Tarsa as their summoner.
