If you usually use the death deck a lot in your battles then you must know that it is full of spiders, but today I'm going to talk about one in particular that I use a lot because it has a large amount of attack and excellent skills and it looks nice . Her name is Octopider and how about seeing how she acts in battles?
You may be thinking, “A spider already has eight legs… Why Octopider?” For one thing, the Octopider is much larger than a spider, closer to the size of an octopus. It’s legs, although they can scurry like a spider, are actually the tentacles of an octopus. In fact, this monstrosity has nearly all the most terrifying features of both spiders and octopi. The Octopider can move easily in water or on land. Whenever threatened, the Octopider disappears into an inky, venomous cloud. They say the Octopider was a grotesque creation of the Gorlodon, a famed monstrous dark sorcerer of the deep water.
Now that you know her better then come and see her skills.
I think one of the main reasons it is not used often is because of its mana cost which is quite high, another factor is also the arrival of chaos legion that brought many useful cards so the old cards lost a little participation in battles . But even so, I still consider her to be an excellent choice and she also has a pretty high attack, as well as speed and health too, now let's go to her skills.
She has only 2 skills but the 2 are very useful on the battlefield, the first of her is Demoralize and this skill makes all cards on the enemy field lose 1 melee attack and since melee cards are often used in battles, I actually believe that in practically all battles that allow it so it will be a very useful skill for you because enemy melee cards will do less damage and that's what decides the battle most of the time.
Her second skill is Blind and this skill is applied to make enemy cards and she has +15% chance to miss the attack and this is also very useful since missing even if it's just 1 attack can decide which side of the battle will go win. So in addition to the Octopider decreasing the enemy melee attack it will also make the enemy cards miss many times (The blind is a very uncommon skill in battles but you can believe that when it is on the field the cards miss many times and this gets even more strong if friendly cards have speed in their favor or other abilities that help them dodge attacks. )
I think this already shows that Octopider is an excellent card and deserves more space in splinterlands battles, but I think you want to see her in battle to be more sure so I'll show you that.
As a summoner I chose a newcomer from chaos legion which is Thaddius Brood and he is an excellent summoner as he reduces enemy magic attack by 1 which is great since magic cards are used a lot in battles and also reduces 1 health of all enemy cards which makes it even better since the lower the life of the enemy card then the easier it will be to defeat it, but unfortunately in this battle the magic attack reduction was not useful since there were no enemy magic cards but the reduction of life was of great help.
First of all I put the Haunted Spirit that has a great attack but that was not the main reason I chose him, the main reason was his abilities that are Magic Reflect that causes part of the magic damage received back to the card that attacked but it won't be useful in this battle (but it's quite useful in several battles) and his second skill which is Heal that makes him heal based on his maximum health and cards with this skill are extremely useful as well they survive the longest in battle and often even win the battle because of it.
Then I put the Cursed Windeku and before you wonder why I chose him in that position since melee cards he can't attack in it, it's because the battle has the Equal Opportunity rule so all monsters can attack from any position and attack the card with less health, besides I believed that my opponent would use magic cards so I put the Haunted Spirit in the front but in this battle the Cursed Windeku would be more useful in the first position, but as the Haunted Windeku heals so it's still a good choice .
I also chose the Phantom Soldier because I really believed that the other side would have a lot of magic cards so the Phantom Soldier and Thaddius Brood would be an amazing combination against that but unfortunately I was wrong, but the Phantom Soldier was still a choice because it has a lot of attack magic and also the Fly skill that will make him dodge many attacks in addition to having a lot of health.
I put Octopider in the fourth position because as the cards can attack from any position in this battle so it doesn't matter if it gets to the first position and as it has a good amount of life then it will be useful to defend in that position if it gets there, but its main function will be to deal damage which will be a lot since it has 3 attack and I also reduced the enemy melee attack with the Demoralize skill which will be of great help since the enemy used them a lot.
In the fifth position we have the Twisted Jester who has the Snipe ability so he will first attack cards with magic attacks or rangeds which is very good since they tend to have low health so they are easier to defeat and he has 3 attack and 4 speed which is very good so it will do a lot of damage in this battle.
And finally we have the Dhampir Stalker and its function will also be to cause as much damage as possible since it has 3 attack but it also has the True Strike ability which makes it always hit the attack so there is no way for it to miss and that is something of great use because its damage is guaranteed.
Just below is the battle.
As you can see in this battle, all enemy cards are melee so the Demoralize skill will be extremely important to decrease his offensive power, in addition he also has the advantage since in battle there is the Reverse Speed rule and most cards his has less speed than mine so they will attack first.
Another thing is that the enemy team also has a card with the Demoralize ability but as I have few melee cards so it won't be a big problem.
In this first round I lost Twisted Jester since he was the lowest life card I had and as the cards will attack the lowest life cards first so it was something predictable to happen, but the enemy lost 2 cards so I'm in the advantage.
In the second round I lost Dhampir Stalker since he was the second lowest health card so he was their second target, and I managed to defeat one of their cards too so it was a draw in this round, but I still have 4 cards and he only has 3 so I have the advantage.
In the third round he didn't have enough offensive power to defeat any of my cards so I didn't lose any cards but I had enough offensive power and get defeat him so I still have 4 cards on the field and he only 1, I think the victory is practically decided.
And in the fourth round, all that remained was to defeat this card, so it took a long time and at the end of it, the victory was already mine.
And that was the battle I wanted to share this week and also show how Octopider is useful in battles although in this battle I won't be able to show its full potential, maybe next time.
I hope to meet you on the battlegrounds in splinterlands and if you battle an Octopider then maybe it will be me, the only thing I can say is that you will feel the power of the spider.
Octopider looks like a really cool monster. Way better choice than Disintegrator.
