@zolajade
This was my third season playing Splinterlands (although my first season was only a few days). I'm interested in all aspects of the game. I'm still learning game play strategy; I've bought some cards. I'm in for the long haul.

Based on the fact that they had post-poned the EOS changes at least twice, I pursued a strategy of renting out a power duo three different times, ground until my ECR was down around 50% (to take advantage of the rentals) then let it rest a day. Coming back after two days, I played back-to-back quests. Lather, rinse, repeat. While resting, I rented out my deck.
This proved fairly effective. My highest rating was gold 3. I might have gone higher except for two things. They announced (over and over lol) in the AMA that it would be current rank, and the diminishing DEC rewards no longer made renting the power duos that lucrative. I could earn more DEC by just renting out my deck.
I have enough power in owned cards to end the season in Silver. So I pulled everything off the rental market a couple days before hand. Then as the rental market went crazy, I re-evaluated and sacrificed end of season chests and re-listed all except regular foil commons. I earned about 4000 DEC from this, so I'm happy with that result.

Happy with the new rewards cards. Not shown here is the legendary I got on my alt account just hours after they were released that I put on the market immediately. It sold fairly quickly for over 350% the current price. I did buy a couple quest potions for DEC as the ROI seems to be there, on average.
Captured DEC (Ranked Rewards)
Ranked Play Wins | DEC Earned |
---|---|

Total Ranked Play Rewards
Total Ranked Play Earnings |

An average of 6.5 DEC/win. Wish I had done a season report cards last season so I could compare.
Before new rewards cards, I got a couple quest reward chests that had 2K DEC! woo-hoo!
Rental Report
Type | DEC (fees) |
---|---|
Revenue | 16986.257 (849.505) |
Expenses | (3517.523) |
Cancellation Refunds | 1247.901 |
NET | 13867.130 |
I've been picking up cheaper untamed and reward gold foils for renting. I started a few days before last season's end (and those are all underwater right now :-( ). I'm working on some analysis tools so I can see what the real ROI is.
Those expenses are mostly from the power duos. So my net DEC earnings are less than the 2K chests I got. Won't be doing that in the next season.
SPS Report
Type | Amount Claimed |
---|---|
Airdrop | 239.242 |
Staking Rewards | 65.735 |
NET | 304.977 |
I've purchased land, SPS and DEC on hive engine for staking rewards. My land purchase was more for eventual game play than staking rewards.
I'm not sure what my game-play strategy will be for the coming season, tbh. I know that earnings are really low on the first couple days, so deck is rented out right now.
I'm curious to see what the next couple seasons bring in terms of the rental market. It used to be fairly steady throughout the season with a bump at EOS. The combination of lower DEC rewards for playing and the EOS changes means that the rental market will be lower up until a couple days before EOS.
I'm considering a strategy where I list cards at elevated prices (but about half of what they would be at EOS) two days before EOS and guaranteeing that if your rent for the two days, I won't cancel. The advantage to the renter would be they would have the peace of mind that the rental wouldn't be pulled and they would actually be able to play the card for two days instead of one. Let me know in comments if this would appeal to you.
