Play To Earn gaming is a hot sector at the moment. One of the hottest games is Splinterlands. One of the first investor groups to focus entirely on the Play To Earn sector is Yield Guild Games (YGG).

This short piece is an attempt to see exactly what YGG own in the Splinterlands universe. Let's start with a little background.

YGG invested into Splinterlands in late June 2021 announced in this blog post (YGG Partners With NFT Card Game Splinterlands). They bought both Land and Untamed packs.

It is more than a coincidence that very soon after this investment, Splinterlands Land & Untamed packs both sold out completely.

  • Land (previously sold for $20) in the game currently sells on Wax for just under $500.
  • Untamed packs (previously sold for $2) now fetch over $40 each.

In fact, YGG's timing was inspired as very soon after, along with the release of the Splinterlands governance token (#SPS), the game has exploded in terms of registered accounts, players, card market cap, in fact virtually every metric you can think of. Splinterlands is HOT.

This recent Splinterlands blog post (Splinterlands Continues to Fly) shows this growth in graphic detail.

YGG Ownership

So what do YGG own exactly. As of today (7th Sept. 2021):

  • Total SPS: 97,853.698 - all staked
  • 6250 Untamed booster packs
  • 2 land regions (i.e. 2000 land plots)
  • 9 active guilds (top-rated is Yield Guild LVLUPLIFE)

That makes YGG, one of the top 10 land owners & untamed pack owners. On top of that members of the guilds own cards with several having over 400,000 power.

Clearly, YGG are a major player in the Splinterlands economy...
