In case you're not in the know, there's a current problem going around with the rental function in Splinterlands.
The Problem: Rental Cooldown Issue
So from what I gleamed from the discord, the main issue is that cards going off the rental market can't be used by the owner. Normally, this is not the case as you should be able to use it immediately.
The Good News
Well, according to the discord, the devs are working on it!
Some have even started asking if it was a PeakMonsters issue, but Jarvie already released a statement that the Splinterlands team has already identified the main issue.
The Bad News
The end of season is soon approaching and problems like these add unnecessary stress to the entire renting process. If people won't want be able to rent out there cards because they just so happened to be on cooldown, then I expect that the prices of rent may skyrocket that day.
What to do
If you plan to cancel your rent towards the end of the season, then make sure you do so 48 hours before the end of season, just in case.
Keep Calm
Whatever the case, let's just keep calm and if we must complain, let's do so properly. Nobody wants issues like this and I'm sure the team is doing their best!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Interesting they consider it a bug. Why should any card be playable by another player within 24 hours of being played by a different player?
I find the last played flag to be not totally reliable sometimes it is on and sometimes it is not on a card I know I played.
I do generally rent out my gold foil cards for end of season due to the great bounce in prices. I would think that part of the reason ranked battle rewards are higher on the day after EOS is that everyone is waiting on the cards to be released from being rented.

I think it's a bug because it's encouraged to rent out the cards through the rental market so the DEC gets burned properly? Delegations sort of circumvent that so that's why there's a 24 hour penalty there.
Those who take advantage of the system by using the same cards on multiple accounts will at least have to wait for the 24hrs of rental to expire before they can move the cards to another account.
There already is a current system for the delegation of cards. The issue at hand is that this wasn't applied to the rental system. I think that's where the code issue happened
