SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DEEP LURKER

dl.png

This weeks theme is Deep Lurker, a 6 mana common card from the new Chaos Legion water set. I'll be using the level 4 version of the card that I own.

At this level it has 4 melee damage, 3 speed and 7 HP. It also has the opportunity ability which means it can attack from any position and target the enemy monster with the lowest HP

This card is extremely powerful it does a ton of damage at a good speed whilst also being very durable as a tank with a lot of HP as well. Water is my favourite and deeplurker is a card I use a lot so I'm excited to show him off

I just want to mention this card at the even higher levels gets the poison and demoraliize ability's making this card even stronger than what it is at the silver level

Pre Battle Thoughts

I wanted to take advantage of Deeplurker's ability opportunity and stack my team with opportunity monsters to play in conjunction with Deeplurker. This way the majority of the damage my monster's will be dealing will be directed at a single target making Deeplurker way more effective.

But in this battle below the ruleset didn't allow that but I still wanted to see if Deeplurker would work here is how it went

Rulesets

img_combat-rule_heavy-hitters_150.pngimg_combat-rule_noxious-fumes_150.png

Heavy Hitters: All monsters have the knockout ability. This ruleset didn't really effect the match as there are no stun monsters available in silver league that I'm aware of

Noxious Fumes: On the other hand this ruleset has a big impact on matches. All monsters start poisoned which means they lose -2 HP at the end of every round

Team Selection

TEam sel.JPG

With these rulesets I wanted to select high HP monsters that would be able to survive the poison, definitely no monsters with less than 2 HP as they wouldn't survive past the 1st round.

Deeplurker is great for this ruleset with 7 HP he will survive at least 4 rounds in my backline

High speed monsters are needed as well to get there attacks off first with dwindling HP across the board

Kelya Frendul

Kelya.JPG

Kelya was my summoner and one of my favourites overall. The +1 speed will help my monsters to attack first which is what I'm after with this ruleset

Diemonshark

ds.JPG

Diemonshark was my main tank for this match. High HP and shields means he can stay alive and absorb damage long enough for my Deeplurker to do some damage else where

Deeplurker

Deeplurker.JPG

I put Deeplurker as my off tank. With 7 HP Deeplurker should survive till at least round 4 from this position. With it's high melee attack damage I'm confident he can finish my opponent before than

River Nymph

rn.JPG

River Nymph is a card that I only really use under the noxious fumes ruleset.
With her cleanse ability she will clear my Diemonsharks poison which is so helpful in these match types.
She also attacks with 1 magic damage which always comes in handy

Igor Darkspear

I really like this low mana cost card Igor Darkspear. He has a lot of speed and high HP exactly what I'm looking for under this ruleset

Round 1

rnd 1.JPG

With Kelyas +1 speed increase I have the definite speed advantage. My enemy's Tarsa is providing an additional +1 HP which can make all the difference in noxious fumes battles

My Diemonshark attacks first easily destroying my enemy's scorched fiend and activating his trample ability, great start

My Deeplurker attacks my enemy's Djinn Apprentice with 4 melee damage leaving him with 1 HP meaning it wont survive the poison

Round 2

rnd 2.JPG

As expected Deeplurkers attack in round 1 was enough to help kill my enemy's Djinn Apprentice after poison

My Diemonshark and River Nymph attack the Lava Launcher leaving it with 2HP which means my Deeplurker targets and kill it

Round 3

rnd 3.JPG

Deeplurker has survived till round 3 with 3 HP still in tact which is what I was hoping for
From here my Diemonshark is easily able to finish off my enemy's remaining 2 monsters and get me the win

Final Thoughts

My strategy played out really well my Deeplurker was able to survive the entire match even with poison and he also killed 2 of my enemy's monsters with both of his opportunity attacks

Deeplurker is one of my favourite cards that I use all the time. I feel like this match was a good showcase of what he can do and how versatile he can be. He can be used effectively in all sorts of situations

Yes he has great melee damage output but he can also be a great tank as I've shown
