Gareth Bale officially migrated from Tottenham Hotspurs to Real Madrid in 2013. Since then Bale became a new bastard to complete the formation of three attackers commonly used Real Madrid. Together with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, Bale is transformed into a BBC trio of one of the world's most prolific trident.
But even after nearly five years in La Liga, Bale never used Spanish during interviews or press conferences. He always uses English with a little mixing with Spanish on several occasions.
Bale himself took a private course for Spanish, then why he did not apply it?
According to his Spanish tutor, Michael Gomez, Bale is not incapable but still hesitant and afraid to use it in full when in official ceremony. Be advised by the big name of course wrong can be the most embarrassing moments let alone the mistake is witnessed by millions of people around the world.
"He [Bale] is able to speak Spanish better than when he was interviewed," Gomez said in a mini documentary created by La Sexta.
He added that Bale was a perfectionist because that's why he chose to refrain rather than half-stepping up.
"He is very perfectionist and before he is able to be at a good level (fluently) he will feel there is less than perfect and eventually he chose to restrain himself," he continued.
"We will help him to understand Spanish as well as develop it, above all we will help overcome his fear [for Spanish]."
"Bale himself understands he still needs to take classes to develop the language and also the ability to adapt to Spanish life," said Gomes.
His relationship with Spanish tutors and Bale is known to be very close, even when Gomez's birthday player awarded the Real Madrid jersey with a congratulatory greeting in Spanish that he wrote himself.
