Paris Saint-Germain have smashed the world transfer record by completing the €222 million signing of Neymar from Barcelona on a five-year contract.
The saga of the summer has finally ended with Neymar finishing his tenure at Barcelona and instead switching to Paris Saint-Germain following his 222 million euro release clause being paid making him the most expensive football player in football history, the drama surrounding his transfer between the Catalan giants and the Parisians is now over, with the superstar continuing his footballing career in Ligue 1.
The Brazilian's transfer was first shrouded in a cloud of doubt, when La Liga tried to derail the deal by rejecting the €222 million paid by Neymar's lawyer earlier on Thursday.
His contract is for five seasons and includes a 30m euro signing bonus, which now ties him to the club until June 30, 2022.
"With the arrival of Neymar Jr, I am convinced that we will come even closer, with the support of our faithful fans, we can realise our greatest dreams." said the club president Nasser Al-khelaifi.
The LaLiga giants fought until the end to keep their one of their best player, but unfortunately the offer and desire from the player to leave the club was too much.
After he moved to Camp Nou in the summer of 2013 as a teenage wonderkid from Santos, the Brazilian played 186 games and scored 105 goals for Barca, forming part of the formidable MSN forward line alongside Lionel Messi and Luiz Suarez.
