SOUTHAMPTON ADDS TO EVERTON’S MISERY
The Toffees appeared unable to handle southampton’s attack, and were unable to keep hold of the ball in the midfield. Southampton were superior when compared to their opponent in every department. With this defeat Everton has now won only one of their last twelve(12) matches and are two points above the relegation zone, while Southampton climbs back to 10th.
Charlie Austin starting a Premier League for the first time this season ended a nine-match goal drought as he placed two past Everton’s No.1 Jordan Pickford. The opener however came from Tadic who received Ryan Bertrand’s through ball and slipped the ball past Pickford in the 18th minute of the game.
Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised for the Toffees on the stroke of half-time. Southampton took charge of the game in the 52nd minute as Austin scored his first goal of the match with a header from Bertrand’s cross and soon made it 3-1 with a header this time the assist was from Tadic.
Steven Davis secured a convincing win when firing in from the edge of the area with three minute left till the end of the game to take his side on to 16 points.
