Did you see the training video of Mayweather come out this week, walking around the gym shirt off. A couple of push ups, a couple of sit ups.
I'm not sure if I was the only one thinking this, but he looks a shadow of his former self. McGregor on the other hand a finely tuned athlete.
Comebacks happen all the time, all the great fighters have made a return to the ring in a simple money grab. But more often than not those comebacks really do fail to live up to their previous glory. Mayweather is now 40 years old, with age your body breaks down, you slow down. It doesn't matter how quick you once were, he is clearly past his best.
Obviously there is money, obviously there is 50-0 on the table, there is the pure challenge.
He has already shown he is one of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing. But, this being a legacy.
Beyond this, this bout goes beyond that. MMA VS Boxing. Boxing has taken a huge hit in popularity over the past few years, the in ability to capture the imagination like MMA has. This is whats truely on the line, will boxing if Mayweather loses fall back into the shadows and MMA continue to blaze ahead.
Conor McGregor may not be a boxer, he is a machine in the MMA world.
Given his machine like tendencies, you can't help to think that if anyone is going to cross the chasm from MMA to Boxing he will be the guy.
But, then again.. do you remember when MJ went to Baseball....how did that turn out?
The major difference is, fighting is fighting. Whoever is the most hungry generally triumphs. I don't think we have ever seen the hunger like McGregor has. It's animalistic.
I don't think this is a clean cut bout as most think. Certainly history tells us that those who comeback generally fall....and those who cross sports/codes generally flounder...
Maybe they will both fall at the same time. Now wouldn't that be something
What are your thoughts?
Mayweather has this one in the bag.
Thats the general vibe! Regardless it will be a spectacle
