Hi, Steemers!
Yeah, Russia has their first ever European Rally Champion, and it's Alexey Lukyanuk, called Luky as a nickname.
Lukyanuk is closely connected to M-Sport and Ford brand all the way after he finished his stint with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10 car.
He even got his chance in the Ford Fiesta WRC a few years ago but he blew it when he crashed the car badly in testing. He went off the road almost on the first mile of testing.
It's so hard to get a chance in WRC without huge backing and he dropped a chance of a life time. He has the right speed on fast rallies, speed needed to win the rallies but he is not consistent enough.
But he is good enough to win the European Rally Championship title. We also have to say that competition in ERC isn't on the level of WRC. It's lower, much lower. But it's not an easy thing to win the title of the best European rally driver of the year 2018.
Congratulations, Luky!
