The Free-For-All contest is back for the 2017 NFL season, just in time for Thanksgiving!
One of the most popular Steemit sports contests from 2016 has now returned for the final stretch of the 2017 NFL season!
This week’s match-up will feature the New York Giants at the Washington Redskins. These are two teams that have struggled this season, going 2-8 and 4-6, respectively, through the first 11 weeks. The Redskins come into this week giving up the second most points in the league, while the Giants come into the week with the third lowest points scored. It’s a battle at the bottom of the NFC East division with both teams trying to salvage their season, but only the Redskins appear to have any chance at all of making the playoffs, which isn’t likely to happen.
New York Giants @ Washington Redskins
On the stats sheet, Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, is actually having one of his better years as a passer. He’s completing almost 64% of his passes and has thrown only 6 interceptions through 10 games but the total output from the Giants offense has been abysmal. They’ve only scored three touchdowns rushing the ball this season – one of them from Eli Manning – and have yet to break the 1,000-yard mark as a team. Coming into this week’s game, the Giants are ranked 26th in rushing and 30th in points scored, at just 16.2 per game.
Their defense has actually performed worse, currently ranked 31st out of the league’s 32 teams and giving up 397 yards per game, including 132 yards per game on the ground. The defense struggles to get opponent offenses off the field, as reflected by their 27th-ranked 3rd down percentage of nearly 43%.
The Redskins have been marginally better than their division opponent this week due to the quarterback play of Kirk Cousins. The Redskins are coming off of a disappointing road loss where Cousins completed almost 69% of his passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. For the season, Cousins has a 101.8 passer rating and has thrown for nearly 3000 yards and 17 touchdowns, versus only five interceptions.
Rookie running back, Samaje Perine, has been a bit of a disappointment this season, averaging only 3.7 yards per carry and scoring only one touchdown, which happened in his 100-yard performance last week against the New Orleans Saints. He’ll be looking to gain some momentum at home this week against the bad Giants defense.
As well as the Redskins offense has played, it’s their defense that has really let them down. Washington gives up a lot of points (26.6 per game) and a lot of passing yards (363.6 per game), despite having relative success creating turnovers. Playing at home against a struggling Giants offense might be enough to get them the win and keep any playoff hopes alive.

Statistical Categories for the Thursday Free-For-All
There will be five statistical categories for the game, listed below. These statistical categories serve as the basis for the contest (rules will follow). I have provided averages from the current season. Some numbers have been rounded for game accuracy. Statistics with decimal places can have game results with decimal places.
1. Giants QB, Eli Manning, Completion Percentage: Season percentage is 63.6.
2. Giants Offense, Total Rushing Yards: Season average per game is 92.
3. Redskins TE, Vernon Davis, Receiving Yards: Season average per game is 53.
4. Redskins QB, Kirk Cousins, Pass Yards: Season average per game is 280.
5. Total Combined Penalties: Combined Season average per game is 12.
PLEASE NOTE: Accuracy matters! If a game statistic can have a decimal place, selecting a decimal number will greatly increase your chances of winning.
Contest Rules
In a comment on this post, submit your predicted results for the five statistical categories in the order that they appear above. You can number your selections (1–5) as they are above or not, but if not, I will assume that they are in the correct order and the results will be checked in that order. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER CONTEST. The use of multiple accounts will result in disqualification and permanent blacklisting for all future contests.
The deadline for submission is the scheduled game time. Any submissions or edits to submissions after the deadline will result in disqualification from the contest. Make sure that you have accurately submitted your numbers before the deadline.
There will be one winner for each statistic. The winner will be the contestant closest to the final statistic from the game. In the case of a tie, the contestant who entered their selections first will be the winner. There is no limit to the number of categories that you can win. Contestants can potentially win one or all of the categories.
The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 20 SBD. The SBD will be distributed evenly between all five categories. The pool will consist of 80% of the SBD payout for this post. The remaining 20% will be dedicated to my sports development fund.

I think that penalties selection could end up not allowing you to win the category. I don’t think they throw flags that small.
Good point! Let me correct that!! haha
@sevinwilson I am liking the precision. Nicely done!
