The Steemit Scramble returns this week, just in time for one of the most anticipated golf tournaments of the year!
This contest has been on hold for the last few weeks but will now resume as intended. The current monthly contest will be extended through the end of June. Before we get to this week's tournament, here are the results from the previous weekly contest, the Shell Houston Open.
Shell Houston Open Contest Results
Contestant | Place | Points |
---|---|---|
@sharingeverybite | 1st | 25 |
@buzzbeergeek | 2nd | 16 |
@shenanigator | 3rd | 13 |
The 2x multiplier was the winning score for the tournament in relation to par, which was -20. The closest to that total was @sharingeverybite, @shenanigator, and @paradise-found who each guessed -18. All three contestants doubled their point totals for the week.
The total pot for the weekly contest was 8.19 STEEM and 7.18 SBD. Here is the breakdown to the winners and the proof of payout:
Please keep in mind that all points will accumulate for the monthly and season-long contests. The top-5 contestants each month will receive prizes and the top-10 for the season will also receive prizes. The current monthly contest will run through the end of June.

THE PLAYERS Championship
May 11 - 14, 2017
TPC at Sawgrass, Stadium Course – Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
The PGA Tour heads to Florida this week for THE PLAYERS Championship. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is a par-72 course that spans 7215 yards. Jason Day was last year’s champion, taking the title with a score of 15 under par. Day is currently in the field for this year’s tournament. Most of golf's biggest names will be playing this week for the highly-coveted title.
The current weather forecast for the week is mostly sunny, with temperatures in the 80s and reaching into the low 90s for the first two days of play. There is no precipitation in the forecast but winds will mostly blow between 10 and 15 miles per hour for the duration of the tournament.
The current tee times have been posted here: THE PLAYERS Championship 2017 - tee times
Player Selections and Multiplier
For the weekly Steemit Scramble, select three golfers from the tournament field that you believe will perform well and finish highest in the final standings. There is a slight revision to the points distribution starting with this week's contest. Based on the final results of the tournament, golfers will be assigned the following points:
Results | Points Awarded |
---|---|
1st place | 12 |
2nd – 5th | 7 |
6th – 15th | 4 |
16th – 30th | 2 |
31st - final cut | 1 |
THIS WEEK’S 2x MULTIPLIER: Pick the number of birdies on the 17th hole. There were 90 birdies on the 17th hole in last year's tournament. The closest participant to the multiplier statistic will earn DOUBLE their total points for the week.
AN ADDITIONAL 5-POINT BONUS will be awarded to all unique golfer combinations. The bonus will be added to the contestants’ point totals AFTER the multiplier has been calculated. If two or more contestants choose the same golfers for the contest, then the contestant who entered their selections first will receive the bonus.
How to Play and Win
In a comment on this post, submit your three golfers and your prediction for the weekly multiplier. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.
Submissions will be confirmed at the start of the weekly tournament. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME AT THE FIRST TEE ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.
There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Player Selections and Multiplier. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.
The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 10 SBD. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:
Place | Rewards Percentage |
---|---|
1st | 50% |
2nd | 30% |
3rd | 20% |
In the event of a tie, the pot will be split between the tying contestants. If the tie occurs for third place, then all tying contestants will split the 20% payout. If the tie occurs in first or second place, then the tying contestants will split the total payout for those places.
Example: A two-way tie for first place will split 80% of the pot (50% + 30%) and third place will receive the remaining 20%. A three-way tie for second place will split 50% of the pot (30% + 20%) and first place will receive the allotted 50%.

I think it would be fair to say at this point, that we are all doing fairly badly! 😀
There will be some stormy weather moving in tomorrow, so things can certainly get interesting, depending on tee times. Don't lose all hope just yet!
