The Ryder cup takes place Friday 28th September - Sunday 30th September at the Le Golf National, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in Paris. It's a funny choice of course for the Europeans that are weathered from the link's courses that the Americans don't like playing.
The Course
The interesting fact is the course was built on a landfill. There are 3 courses at the venue and the Ryder Cup will take place on the Albatross Course which has excellent views for TV Screens and it is known to be wide open which will favour the big hitters.
Not many tree's on this course. Phil will be delighted

Wild Cards
On paper this looks like the best Ryder cup team in years. Both teams are very strong but the Americans have probably the best team on paper in Ryder cup history. Tiger is back. DJ is number 1.Patrick Reed is wearing the green jacket. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Bubba , Dustin Johnston and Jordan Spieth are all prone to meltdowns so you never know. Also the team dynamic might not be that great with lone wolfs like Tiger, Patrick Reed and Bubba on the same team.
The Europeans still could win if Rory hits form. John Rahm is one of the worlds best golfers if he keeps his head. Molinari hasn't hit into a rough in years and Justin Roses is consistent. If Ian Poultier can play like he did in previous Ryder Cups then they have a chance.
I will be glued to it anyway. It should make for great entertainment.
Up the Europeans!!!

Hi @blanchy. Always enjoy this event and the course looks fantastic. I am not a fan of trees as I tend to hit them fairly often. We stayed at Celtic Manor when it just opened for a work do. I know the Ryder cup was played there a few years ago. The owner built it specifically to get the event staged there.
Thats in Wales isn't it. Same happening in Ireland at the moment with Adare manor in Limerick . I may write a post about it. The sundance kid is after putting a 250 million into hotel and course and will get the Ryder cup in a few years.
Looking forward to it. To bad Thomas Pieters didn't get a wild card because he did great last Ryder Cup together with Rory. But in all honesty he didn't deserve one.
To bad that it is played in Europe, which means that due to work I will be not be able to see a lot of it. I do prefer the Ryder Cups in the USA because then I can watch in the evenings. Yeah, I know, selfish of me.
Cheers,
Peter
Never thought of that about the American times!! So thats why I only see it every 2 years as well. Hahah. I hate the crowds in the states though. They go too over the top. The Paris crowd will be quiet compared.
So, who do you think will win and what will the score be?
I hate to say it but I think the Americans will hammer them. The Europeans will have to play their best to beat them .

Hey @blanchy
I will definitely tune in a catch some of this. It's usually pretty exciting and golf isn't that high on my list.
It sounds like the Europeans are up against it then! Let's hope then create a shock.
Gaz
Big time Gaz but you never know. Poulter will be on fire as usual and the Americans might crack up
Who are the fancied Euro players? I guess McElroy is one. I know Justin Rose had a good spell a couple of Years ago.
Rose is ranked number 2 in the Fedex world rankings so he's having a great year this year too. I reckon John Rahm and Molinari are going to play well. Garcia and Poulter always have a good ryder cup also.
2nd! Wow. Fair play to him.
sir blanchy! I don't know anything about golf and it's too boring to watch on tv but man the courses are fabulously beautiful! I could get hooked playing it just to be out there!
I know some of he modern gunslingers used to shoot the balls out of the air too! do that count?
