Watch: Low level umpiring in BPL leaves player furious!

in #sports6 years ago (edited)

Fair and full justice to the game, always makes that game original. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is always the hot topic when discussed “Weak-organisation”. Umpires are elected, so that game can be carried out honestly. But recently in BPL 2019, the umpiring have been such at a low level, which surprised the fans and the commentators on a regular basis.

Something like this happened, in the 26th match of the ongoing BPL tournament. Mehedi Hasan was bowling the final over of his quota. He received such a strange call from the umpire. It was the fourth ball of the over, which was bowled on the wide line after being smacked for a six in the previous delivery.

As the ball was short, batsman Rasooli attempted to play a cut but only managed to get a thickish inside edge. The ball bounced, in front of keeper, but he failed to grab it. However he was fast to recover it, and got the ball and saved the run for his team.

But, then came the shocking decision, the umpire felt it was wide delivery.
The call left the bowler and the fielder furious, as the edge on the bat is clearly visible even for the commentators, who are miles away from the pitch.

Umpire tried to convey things to player, unfortunately, he couldn’t do so, as it was crystal clear from the replays. However keeper wanted to calm down the things, which helped carrying carrying the forward.

However these things are not affordable in the cricket world. BPL needs to raise its standard and organisation, to keep it fair. Also umpire should be more concentrated to field and game. It is their responsibility, to be true with game.
