In the 2016 - 2017 college football season there were some of the most amazing games and finishes I have ever seen. Here is a list of the best games from the 2016 - 2017 College Football Season
10. Central Michigan vs. Oklahoma State
This early season game was supposed to be an easy win for Oklahoma State. Well that didn't quite happen it was a close game throughout and with 4 seconds left and Oklahoma State on top they decided just to throw it away. This play was called intentional grounding from the refs and the ball was given back to Central Michigan. Central Michigan had only one play left and they may have thrown one of the most surprising hail mary passes I have ever seen. After the game it was revealed the Intentional Grounding call should not have happened, and Oklahoma State should have won the game. But Central Michigan despite the controversy still got the W.
Final Score: Central Michigan 30, Oklahoma State 27
9. Big 10 Championship Game - Penn State vs. Wisconsin
This years Big 10 Championship Game was the best conference title game of the year by far. Wisconsin had complete control at the beginning of the game. Wisconsin's defense was absolutely stellar in the first half. Wisconsin had a 28 - 7 lead at Halftime. Penn State did not give up though they kept on making big plays. Penn State Quarterback Trace McSorley was the star of this game. He ended up with 4 touchdowns and a Big 10 Championship record of 384 passing yards. Penn State did the unthinkable and went on a 31 to 3 scoring run to become Big 10 Champions.
Final Score: Penn State 38, Wisconsin 31
8. Pitt vs. Clemson
The 5 win Pitt team had to overcome the number 2 ranked and undefeated Clemson Tigers at Clemson. This game was a shoot out. Not one team had a clear edge over the other. Pitt rounded was able top stop Clemson on a 4th down in the 4th quarter. This gave Pitt the last chance to get the win. The Panthers through a 25 yard pass to get into field goal range. Chris Blewitt made a game winning 48 yard field goal to overthrow the number 2 team in the nation.
Final Score: Pitt 43, Clemson 42
7. Cal vs. Oregon (2OT)
This Pac 12 shootout was a record breaking game in a many ways. Cal set the record for most plays in a game with 118 and also both team together had the highest combined plays in a game with 203. Both Teams combined for 101 points and had over 1,000 yards in total offense. Cal eventually got an interception in the second overtime which stopped these two scoring machine teams from fighting any longer.
Final Score: Cal 52, Oregon 49
6. Clemson vs. Louisville
The two top teams in the ACC at the time had a legendary offensive battle between two of the best quarterbacks in the nation. This was intens game in the end but in the beginning Clemson had a 28 to 10 lead at halftime. After the half Louisville scored 26 unanswered points giving them an 8 point lead over Clemson. Clemson then came back with 2 touchdowns with one being set up by Artavis Scott's 77 yard kick return. With Louisville down 6 points it was up to Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson to lead the Cardinals to victory. It is fourth down and 12 to go for Louisville at the Clemson 14 yard line. On the last play Jackson threw the ball to one of his receivers who only managed to get 11 yards before stepping out of bounds. Clemson was victorious and kept their undefeated streak after this game.
Final Score: Clemson 42, Louisville 36
