Yes Boston had a rolling rally on Wednesday! A rolling rally in our city is a series of Duck Boats (amphibious vehicles) used for tours of the city. It was actually the 11’th rally of it’s kind (since 2001) celebrating 5 Patriots Super Bowl wins, 4 World Series Championships, 1 Bruins title and 1 Celtics title!
Despite a chill in the air (windy and cloudy) this one was special for me! The Red Sox won a franchise record 108 regular season games and then went 11 – 3 in the play-offs for a total of 119 wins.
The crowd was excited but tame in comparison to past parades. Perhaps this is getting to be routine in Boston! Estimates were that almost a million people took to the streets and there was one arrest as a fan hit Sox skipper Alex Cora in the back of the head with a beer can. To be fair, some fans were tossing beers to players and the players were drinking them and tossing the empties back. Apparently Cora wasn’t looking or didn’t want a beer.
David Price and Chris Sale both appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the event, their first ever Duck Boat Parade! The entire event including the pre parade celebration lasted less than 2 hours but was indeed memorable.
