Brilliant Green flame? How is that possible???
Just last night, we held our annual Victory Bonfire at the Home of the Braves- Georgia Academy school ground. More than a tradition, the bonfire is a symbol of the athletic triumph of our students in the different sports competitions and activities. This is to honor these young people who gave pride to our beloved school. Another highlight of this annual tradition is the most-awaited announcement of the "House of the Year".
Like the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry "Hogwarts" in J.K Rowling's well-known Harry Potter Series , our school's student body is divided into four different Houses bearing the names of the four Philippine epic heroes namely Hiandong (red house), Humadapnon (green house), Lam-ang (blue house) and Tuwaang (yellow house). Each house is comprised of student-members coming from Nursery, Primary, Intermediate and Junior High School level.
Tuwaang vs. Lam-Ang
Throughout the school year, the four houses compete for the House Cup through different in-school programs and outdoor activities gaining and losing points based on their team and members' actions, performances, good behavior and rule violations.

After all the endless fun activities, finally, the time has come to find out who's going to be awarded as the House of the Year. The Department Head initiated the lighting of the fire bowl. No one really knows of what color the fire would turn into, even the advisers of each house has no idea. The color of the fire would determine the color of the House which is going to be declared as the overall champion. After waiting for a few moments...
THE FIRE TURNED GREEN!!! Woohoo!!! It was my dear House of Humadapnon! We are the overall Champion!
How to make Green Fire? Well, according to the Science teacher who prepared the chemical for the fire, it was a mixture of only two household chemicals: boric acid and methanol. Just simply mix them together and ignite. That's it! It will then produce the green fire. (But of course, be sure to take extra caution when handling or using chemicals.)
"To my dear Humadapnons, this green fire symbolizes your burning desires to bring pride to the House. To all the Nursery, Primary, Intermediate and Junior High School Humadapnons, a heart-felt gratitude to all of you for doing all your best ang giving it all out. Kudos to all!!!
