You may have noticed I have Duke going all the way. I'd like the record to state that I am not a fan of Duke. I just believe that this is an excellent team with all the right pieces. Obviously they have a great coach and a lot of talented players, but I think Marvin Bagley III is that special piece that takes the Blue Devils all the way this year. He has so much talent and seems as if he can get any bucket or rebound he wants. He is the big reason why I have Duke going all the way.
To clarify one of my upsets in the East, I have UCLA winning their play in game and then upsetting the 6 seed Flordia. I was very impressed by UCLA's effort in their overtime loss to Arizona the Pac 12 tournament. They have what it takes to beat Flordia and the play in game gives them a chance to get comfortable in the big dance. I do have UCLA falling to Texas Tech as I believe the Red Raiders are good enough to win the East and advance to the final four.
The Midwest bracket promises some great match ups. Duke vs Michigan St is a sick match up for the Sweet Sixteen as both are final four caliber programs. And that's not the end of it as the winner will advance to play another great program in the Kansas Jayhawks. I believe the winner of this bracket will win the entire tournament. I still believe this winner will be Duke, despite the difficult road they have.
I've picked Arizona to upset Virginia and go on to win the South region. It's not easy to pick against the overall number one team who just won their conference tournament in arguably the toughest conference, but this is the year for Arizona to return to the final four. The Wildacats have impressed me all season and they did win their conference tournament as well.
North Carolina is my pick to win the West. They will have to go through a red hot Michigan team but the Tarheels have the experience to do it. They have been to the championship game the past two years and they haven't shown us any reason why they can't return this year. The Xavier vs Gonzaga match up also promises to be a good one. It was a tough pick but I chose Xavier to advance to the Elite Eight, before falling to UNC.
Thanks for viewing my bracket picks. Best of luck to everyone entering their own brackets.
Enjoy March Madness!
Duke is always a solid pick! I'm doing a challenge to see who can pick which lower seed will go the furthest in the tournament and it seems like something you might be interested in. I don't have many people signed up yet, so the odds of winning the 3 SBD prize will be good. Click here, if you're interested.
