Roger Federer, a veteran of England's Wimbledon record, has written his third major Grand Slam title this season after scoring a record number of times in the men's singles competition, For the eighth time in his career on Sunday.

Third-seeded Federer continued his creativity in the grass-based tournament after beating Croatian Marin Schilch, the seventh seed of the competition, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 in the final.

The 35-year-old Federer has broken his historic partnership with former American star Pete Sampras and the late Briton William Renshaw, who have crowned the title on seven occasions, becoming the oldest Wimbledon player since the professional age of 1968.

This is the 19th title of Federer in the Grand Slam tournaments, and the second for him this season, after winning the Australian Open earlier this year, and this is the fifth title of this season in the seventh tournament in which he participates.

Federer reverted to Wimbledon again after a five-year absence, without losing any group during the current edition.

Federer crushed Shilic, winner of the United States' Flushing Meadows, one of the Grand Slam Grand Prix three years ago, to repeat his compatriot Goran Ivanisevic, who won the championship in 2001.

Roger Federer is a great champion, probably the best male tennis player of all time. He makes it look so easy, as if its no real effort when he plays these fantastic shots. Maybe he should've retired today and just gone out right at the top!

Roger Federer is my all time favourite. Thanks for writing.
