"Jaguars beat the Vikings, 28-23.
MIN: Simple choice. They kept their team together and upgraded at the most important position. Kirk Cousins could have been the difference in that 38-7 disaster against Philadelphia. (The Eagles only scored 7 points in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Quarters. In the 2nd Quarter, they put up 17 unanswered. If the Vikings had responded to one of those drives, it could have been a very different game.) He could be the difference in a rematch this year too.
JAG: The parity across the NFL should be high this year, but how many AFC teams really look complete enough to win a Super Bowl? New England (check.) Jacksonville (proved it last year.) Houston? (Will Deshaun and JJ pick up where they left off?) Kansas City? (If they couldn't with Alex Smith, its not likely with a 2nd-year QB.) Tennessee? (Maybe I'm just biased, but I don't think they've made the jump to the next level). Chargers? (Could be, but more offseason injuries make this a bigger question).
I think the teams with the highest ceilings are NE, JAC, HOU. Of them, Jacksonville might have the fewest question marks -- so we'll ride with Coughlin and the boys.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars defense will be a tough matchup for the Vikings O. With another year of experience together, and their prior playoff experience against even stronger offenses (2017 PIT & 2017 NE), the Jaguars are well-suited for this matchup.
I also have more faith in Fournette to control the game than Cook, Murray, or anyone else in the Vikings backfield. In a finale between these two teams, that could be what it comes down to.
