The right-back laid on five goals, his record in the competition.
Carvajal set up Cristiano Ronaldo for the opening goal of the final in Cardiff to notch what was his fifth assist in the Champions League 2016/17. The figure sees him crowned as Real Madrid's leading assist maker, ahead of Cristiano (4) and Marcelo, Ramos and James (all with 2). The number also sees the academy graduate beat his record for assists in the competition.
Three players have benefitted from Carvajal's eye for a pass on route to La Duodécima. The first was Kovacic, in the draw with Legia in Warsaw. Benzema would be the next, in two games in a row at the Bernabéu, against Borussia Dortmund and then Napoli. Then finally came the assists for Cristiano Ronaldo for the madridista's opening goal in Munich and then again against Juventus.
