An untiring and vital cog in the Real Madrid engine room, since his arrival in the summer of 2014, Toni Kroos has been a key member of the Whites' squad. The importance of the club's all-time second-highest German appearance-maker has remained strong since Zinedine Zidane took charge of the team. Indeed, he is the player to have featured the most under the French coach (86 times). Coming in behind him in these standings are Lucas Vázquez (85), Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo (83).
During the second half of the 2015/16 campaign, which is when Zidane began his reign, Kroos featured 23 times, including an appearance in the Undécima showpiece in Milan. Next up came the historic 2016/17 campaign, which yielded four pieces of silverware for Real Madrid. During that season the German racked up 48 appearances. So far this term he has played a part in 15 games, including those which saw the Whites capture the UEFA and Spanish Super Cups.
