The Russian men's volleyball team took gold medals at the European Championships, which was held in Poland. Russian volleyball players defeated the German team in a tie-break with a score of 3: 2 (25:19, 20:25, 25:22, 17:25, 15:13). Athletes, headed by coach Sergey Shlyapnikov, confidently won the first and third sets, but in the second and fourth advantage was with the Germans. Everything was decided on a tie-break.

The most effective player of the match was German Georg Grozer, who collected 23 points. 19 points on the account of Maxim Mikhailov, 14 points brought the team Dmitry Volkov, who made three irresistible serve and 4 scoring units.

Last time volleyball players of the Russian national team won the European Championship in 2013.
Bronze medals received the national team of Serbia, in a tiebreaker defeated the Belgian team (3-2).
