Sporting competitions are in many ways a substitute for traditional pack or tribal interactions and participating in them is beneficial on so many levels. Violence is a natural part of the human condition I feel.
It is not the violence that I feel is shocking here, it is the fact that in today's modern world we have people living vicariously through watching these sports and the actions included within it. Why would any man or woman wear the name of another person on their back unless they were related? Why would a man invest his emotions and finance into a team of players who quite frankly don't give a damn about their followers?
