Mike Mayock Joins Raiders as GM

in #sports6 years ago (edited)

We'll conveniently ignore what happened against the Chiefs the other day while bringing you this update.

The Raiders beat the Donkeys in what will probly be their last home game in Oakland. We ended the season a pitiful 4-12.

Silver Lining.

Three of those wins were in the last 7 games of the season. Rookies were getting a lot of experience and morale is improving.

Accomplishments
I was just telling a friend the other day how important scouting will be for the Raiders since they have so many good draft picks coming up in the next few years. Right after I told him that the Raiders hired a media scouting expert as their GM.

Toxic players are gone. Morale is high. We're ready for the draft. We pick 4th, 24th and 28th in the first round. All this with like $85m in cap space.

I'm very curious to see how all of this plays out! What position do you want to see the Raiders select?

That's the question isn't it? I might edit this answer after thinking about it a bit more. linebacker - safety - Oline - running back? But what you want and what's available don't always match up. I just saw a mock draft showing our first pick would be Dline. It's not what we need the most but you kind of have to pick him if he's available. Every once in a while you see some one have a great career after being selected deep in the draft, that kinda luck would be welcome anytime.

Let's hope Mike Mayok can help find some gems in the rough! I always liked hearing his thoughts on prospects when he was on the NFL Network. Interesting selection!
