Nepal hammered Malaysia by 8 wickets in a must-win match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup on Tuesday.
Malaysia offered no match for Nepali bowling and batting prowess as Nepal completed the 46 runs target from just 33 balls losing 2 wickets. Anil Sah scored 26 from 15 while Captain Dipendra Singh Airee smashed two sixes for his 12 from 3 balls.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to field first, Malaysia offered little resistance against Nepal's bowling attack as they slumped from 32/0 to 45 all out inside 15.3 overs. The match was reduced to 24 overs each due to rain delay.
The collapse was triggered mainly by Sandip Lamichhane who took five wickets while Dipendra Singh Airee and Shahab Alam also claimed two wickets each.
Nepal now have to wait for the result of the match between India and Bangladesh.
Nepal can make it through without much fuss if Bangladesh overcome India. But if India beat Bangladesh, the three teams will be tied on points and run-rate will come into play to decide the top two.
