Today I'm going to take a look at two of the most gangster men in MMA, Nick and Nate Diaz. We'll take a look at their fight records, some footage, and I'll give my thoughts on where I see the Diaz brothers fitting into the future of our sport.
Let's start off with Nick, Nick is the older of the two brothers and has been fighting since the early days, he is from an era when most guys were fighters and not many were athletes, Nick is both, he and his brother regularly compete in triathlons outside of fighting and they both boast absolutely insane cardio. I can't ever recall seeing a fight where a Diaz brother has gassed out, they are programmed differently to most people, they will go for days.
Fight Record
As you can see nobody has ever been able to finish Nick, he has a chin made of stone and his jujitsu is up there with the best on earth, he has a black belt under Cesar Gracie which was awarded to him on May 8, 2007.
Nick is an absolute Martial Artist and will go down in history as one of the best to ever do it, he is extremely well rounded, but usually always decides to get into brawls and keep it on the feet, pleasing the fans. It has been very difficult to be a Nick fan over the years, as he always seemed to be involved in some sort of controversy, most recently receiving a 5 year suspension for marijuana use back in 2015, which was ultimately overturned to a one year suspension on appeal, the ban was lifted very recently and Nick is now officially cleared to fight, which is great news. Whether he actually takes a fight is another story, as the Diaz brothers are notoriously hard to get a deal done with.
Nick Diaz reacts to five-year suspension from NSAC
As you can see Nick is very outspoken and that has not done him any favours in the past, I really hope to see him in the Octagon one or two more times, as the window of him actually being competitive is getting very short, with him now being 34 years old. I'll leave a fun montage of some insane Diaz fight moments below.
Now lets take a look at Nick's very similar younger brother Nate. Much like Nick, Nate is a jujitsu wizard under Cesar Gracie and is a master boxer under Richard Perez. Nate started off his UFC career by winning the ultimate fighter all the way back in 2015 when he beat Manny Gamburyan via round 2 submission in the series finale, and would go one to submit his next three opponents. Nate has a long and very good record in the UFC, it's a shame he doesn't use any of the momentum he gets to really become a contender in any division.
Fight Record
As you can see from his fight record, Nate has fought the best of the best, and has had his ups and downs. Much like his brother Nick, he will be remembered as one of the greats, he has done a lot for the sport and him and his brother were a huge part in helping make MMA mainstream, their fight style and ride or die attitude has always resonated very well with the fans.
Nate really shot to fame when he first called out Conor McGregor after defeating Michael Johnson back in December 2015
Calling out Conor that night was probably the best career decision Nate ever made, as it sparked a series of events that would eventually see him stepping in on short notice for an injured Rafael Dos Anjos and ultimately defeating McGregor with a second round rear naked choke, and the rest is history.
Nate has not fought since the McGregor rematch in August 2015 and has made some ludicrous demands to step back into the octagon. Either way I imagine we will see him fight either this year or next year for sure. Money runs out eventually.
I'll leave a great compilation below of some of Nates fight footage.
Thanks for checking this out, I'm a huge fan of both Diaz brothers and I can't wait to see either of them fight again. I am quite confident we will see both men fight before the end of 2019 and wouldn't be surprised if either of them fight before the end of this year. Let me know your thoughts below.

They are both quality and I think rather under rated by a lot of MMA fans. I'd love to see Nick back in action once again, maybe not GSP though as I think we already know how that would go down. Though the build up would probably be fun.
As for Nate as we mentioned before I'd like to see him versus Tony Ferguson. Heard him again talking about fighting Conor (though it could have been an old interview) but think that ship has sailed unless he does something to get back in the public eye.
Haha I would love to see the GSP rematch, it probably would go much of the same way, but god damn it'd be fun.
Nate Tony would be sick, I really really like that fight stylistically, I have no interest in Nate Conor three at the moment, I think that ship has probably sailed at this stage.
There is a rumor that Nick vs. Bisping might be in the works. They did have some small heat a year or two back. I think it would be a great fight for both.
I did a little write up on Nate myself in regards to his Conor matches and potential future trilogy fight.
There is talk of that alright, Bisping denied it, but said he would be interested at catch weight 195LB. I could see it happening for sure. Ah awesome man, I'll check it out right now ;)
.
I was actually listening to Bisping talk about that today on a podcast recording, I really like the idea Diaz Bisping, but I bet you anything it will be GSP Diaz as they have history together and both are on the tail ends of their careers.
.
hahah That would be a lot of fun, but I think the younger guys would give him way more trouble than GSP would.
Again nice post🙂
