Notre Dame squares off against Michigan State Saturday @ 8:00 PM ET.
This rivalry has been historic throughout the years and no matter the rankings of either team it is generally a battle down to the final minutes. This game is imperative to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their head coach Brian Kelly.
After Notre Dame's 49-20 victory over Boston College last week, Brian Kelly was noticeably shaken in the press conference and I believe that at halftime he had serious doubts about whether or not he would have a job come Monday. With only a 4 point lead at halftime, Notre Dame was at serious risk of losing their season only 3 games in.
Their is not doubt that Brian Kelly's team has the talent for a 10+ win season, however with a young QB that struggles in the passing game, there could be moments down the stretch where he simply does not have the tools to execute game winning drives. Wimbush's athleticism has gotten him early attention in his short career, but it is fairly obvious that the young QB is not comfortable in the pocket.
If Notre Dame drops to 2-2 this season after a terrible 4 win season last year there will be no one else to blame but Kelly himself. After replacing almost his entire coaching staff, excuses are over.
Kelly's fate will all but be written in stone if there is not a win at Spartan Stadium on Saturday.
Thanks everyone,
