RE: Michael Jordan Boom!

It's hard to say LeBron started the super team trend. LeBron definitely made it more public than it ever was, as well as more acceptable for players to communicate intentions beforehand, but the idea of stacking your roster with the best available players is not new. You can look at the Celtics Big 3 in 2008, the '96 Rockets with Olajuwon, Clyde, Barkley and Pippen, the 2012 Lakers with Kobe, Nash, Gasol and Dwight Howard, the '82 Sixers with Dr. J, Moses Malone, Maurice Cheeks and Bonny Jones, and even the 1970 Bucks with Kareem and Oscar Robertson. Stacking teams is not new, the end results though are - historically anyways as most of the teams listed above won no more than 1 ring. LeBron didn't start the trend of superteams, he merely made it more popular, and more importantly, more acceptable.
